"Big" Knife of the Week, an amber bone stainless Case Sod Buster Jr (won in a very early round of @mrknife's never-ending GAW) , really isn't big, but he and I have delusions of his grandeur:

Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a Schatt & Morgan #99 ebony equal-end single-bladed spearpoint (thanks, @mrknife):

Nice - looks like a great morning!

Been an office day so far, but taking my wife out to a nice dinner tonight for our 44th. I'm going to dress a bit better than usual, so a light pocketknife that wears well in slacks (but can cut the inevitable string off my wife's button, etc.) is in order. The Case 6308 Whittler gets the honor. OH

Tomato fishing, looks like you caught your limit 😀
But you shoulda seen the one that got away!

Hi,
Thank you.
What is the material used for the amazing inserts on your knife ?

It is shell construction~ the bolsters are sheet steel held on by little tabs, the handles are actually sheet metal, and they’re covered with a thin overlay. I say imitation imitation toilet seats because they are supposed to look like the swirly material made to look like mother of pearl that toilet seats were made of in the ‘50s~ “Mother of toilet seat”
And mother of pearl is an imitatation of pearl cut from oyster/clam shells.

Shell construction was common after the war on inexpensive working man’s knives by Colonial, Imperial, and Hammer Brand.

Funny thing is, in my experience, they have great springs and perfect action.

Yes, Bruce. Life is good.
And the skeleton on my plate says it was a good supper, too.
And there is enough for three more meals for 3 in the freezer. :)

Happy 44th to you and your bride, my friend. You are 3.75 years ahead of us.

‘92 Winchester Toothpick. I really enjoy this knife; it’s had a lot of pocket time the last 29 years.

And I’ll wager it has filleted a few fish in those 29 years!

You are so right about Ambassadeur fishing reels. I guess they are my favorite Swedish imports. I have two 5000s, and a 6500C.
