‘81 Schrade SC503. Bought it new from Cutlery World when I was a kid; the second ”real” knife I ever had.

Got something very cool in the mail today. Over the weekend I was browsing a relatively smaller dealer's website that I've purchased stuff from in the past. They carry mostly modern and customized production pieces, but they do get classic stuff in every now and then. They don't even have a GEC section, but on a whim I decided to type "Great Eastern Cutlery" into the search bar and this popped up.

GEC Acorn Shield #73 from 2006, the year they first started producing knives. This is #89 of 250. It didn't come with the tube but as far as I can tell it's new or barely carried. For a 15 year old piece it's in amazing condition. I kind of can't believe it's actually sitting on my desk right now.
Got my trusty 33 and a new to me 77 Saw Cut Barlow in the pockets today!

Beautiful blonde ram’s horn on that one!![]()
I’m a ‘lurker’ on this forum, but I find your posts to be both humorous and inspirational. Your approach for dealing with a serious and complicated health issue inspires me. Here’s toIt's the Scout Trapper again today. Although this knife is a bit heavy for pocket carry, it's a good one and ready to work when needed. My swallow is off today so I'll be staying home and having lunch from either a bag or a waxed, cardboard, carton through a straw. Oh joy!!!!

Yes, it is a northern pike. I also have a pronghorn antelope sharp finger and a few others I can’t think of offhand. Always thought the red one with the alligator on it was neat when I was a kid though. It would be nice to still have those options with American cutlery nowadays wouldn’t it!I always enjoy seeing those Schrade Scrimshaw series knives. Don’t know that I’ve seen that one before. Northern Pike, right?
Nice find.
Beautiful blonde ram’s horn on that one!
Fantastic pair!
I’ve got these two with me today.

Thank you, Todd. That’s a sweet pair of knives as well!
Yeah I think they were orange. Haven’t seen one in person for years I think they were stockman patterns too . Maybe?I’ve caught a few pike, usually when trying for largemouth. They put up a good fight!
Thlose red (or were they orange?) Gator Schrades were pretty unique.
Thanks! I just got that one. Red laminated birch. A little pricey for an Opinel, but I like it.
Great photo, Jack!![]()
