What Type of Knife Knut are you?

After reading your incredibly insightful post, and your prior posts, and the posts of other members here who, as you mentioned, had patience with me and my inaccuracies, flaws, etc, no, I do not believe there are only two types of knife enthusiasts. That's what I hoped would happen with thread - that I would learn something, gain new knowledge, and/or get some different perspectives on some things. Perhaps my way of doing so wasn't the best (making people choose one of two questions in my original post), even if it is very effective in getting people to say no, actually, I'm this and this, not just that.
As I've said elsewhere, I don't know you. All I can go by is how you conduct yourself in the posts I read.

What I have seen of your behavior in your two current threads I would describe as positive. For one thing, after being personally attacked without provocation you have chosen to remain civil. Many in your position would, and have, blown up, started using profanity, name calling, etc, etc. But you have kept your cool. I have to respect that.

Also, based on your last post (and others you have posted), it appears to me that you do in fact have an open mind, that you are willing to listen to what others say, and learn from them. I have to respect that as well.

My advice, for what it's worth, is that you keep walking on the right path. Stay civil and keep your cool. Be willing to listen and learn. Conduct yourself with respect and integrity at all times, and you may very well earn the respect of others.

Thank you for the compliments. I appreciate it. And for having an open mind and being patient... nobody's perfect, and I'm certainly still learning.

I guess I'm a collecto-horading knife using knife slut. :)
I use them all to varying degrees (some more than others...there's a bunch of them), and I sluttishly spread my knife love amongst the high-end to the lower end offerings.

Good thing knives don't transmit STD's... :D

Wait, knife slut wasn't in the OPs options. You sir do not exist.

But seriously, you may need penicillin....

Seems like you can't read. I posted YMMV. You could be something completely different. I'm open to discussion. Apparently you don't know what that means.

Oh well. I tried reasoning with you. I will now put you on the ignore.

What is a knut?

I use my knives, so maybe I'm not cool enough to put a 'K' in front of all the 'N' words I type?

I dont have anything against paying for a quality blade, so long as I think it will serve me, but I dont really get all fanboy for any maker or steel or style. But on the other hand, if I have a nice piece I am going to be boasting some about it- so long as whoever is listening can understand what I'm impressed with.
So, boasting user.. Yea. i use all my knives, yet recognize that some are special enough to be quite proud of, so long as they're useable.

Honestly I'm not sure what a 'knut' is lol. I've seen other Bladeforum members and IG knife guys say Knife Knut so I figured most people called it that. Guess I was wrong. It's just a different way of saying knife enthusiast I suppose.

To me, there are two kinds of people that are into knives, most notably the higher end productions and upwards.

The first kind is the Boaster I suppose. This is the type of Knife guy that buys a knife for the blade steel and its reputation, the handle material(s), if it has ball bearings or washers, and the name on the blade. Once the knife comes in, it sits in a safe or in its box and only comes out to show off to friends and cut paper. And boasting rights."I got an 0562CF and it has 204P. Teehee. Now let me put it in my Pelican" OR better yet "I got this D.O.C. It has Elmax and is pretty much a Tony Marfione custom.I like it, and it can take a beating." And then it sits in its box, never carried, and only gets flipped when friends come over. (That example is courtesy of my friend. That's literally what he said [emoji55] )

The second type is the User. The one who buys knives based on everything I mentioned above, but also thinks about longevity, blade grind, and purpose of cutting. Their knives don't just sit in the case. They get used and sharpened and cut more than paper. Their knives have character and stories behind them. Then the other group comes along and makes fun of the users because their knife has a wider edge bevel or it shows wear. Can you tell which side I'm partial to? [emoji6] [emoji6]

Anyways, which are you?

(YMMV. You could be something completely different. I'm open to discussion.)

Special thanks to TheApostleP on YouTube for inspiring this topic with his ZT 0562CF review.

Seems like a narrow minded observation putting people into only 2 groupings. I'll assume you're young. There are all types, there are even non knife types who have knives. A knife is ultimately just a tool, as such there is a wide diversity of types as well as a wide diversity of people who use or collect them.

Yes, I'm young. Take a look throughout this thread and you'll see people being rude about it. I understand where you're coming from though. [emoji106]

I'm the type who decides on a knife only after reading every review I can possibly find, then imagine all sorts of horrors befalling it while being shipped. When it arrives I stalk around and look for things to cut. My greatest pleasure is selecting my blade for the day and then using it throughout.
