What Type of Knife Knut are you?

I agree! The OP is a useless teenager who should be forced to use nothing but 440A from here on out.

I mean, he hit the two main types of knife knut but left out the OBVIOUS third type: the Self Shamer.

The guy that buys a $1000 custom flipper to impress his friends. Then remembers his "friends"(coworkers forced to listen to him blabber on about CPM M4 and IKBS) don't like knives and think he's a psycho. THEN he remembers that the $1000 was actually supposed to be a deposit on an apartment so he could move out of his grandmother's basement. Full of shame and regret he beats himself mercilessly with a wiffle-ball bat because the real one hurt and he's a bit of a pansy.

How could you have forgotten that one? What the hell did you expect Stabman to choose?

Funny and true lol

Anustart , you don't realize Every few days someone like you starts a thread frowning on collectors and deems them self master knife user of the universe and call everyone else names( ringing any bells w&c crew?) Who dont take every knife the own out in their backyard for a survival lessen within 5 minutes of owning said knife.

So you see, thats why some of these guys are snapping at you, they get told what they should do with their knives and they are fed up with it.

Hope that helps you understand this complex reaction to your post about two kinds of knife nuts.

Good day

Stay on topic.....do not discuss other posters.

I don't mean to provoke, but isn't the topic of this thread basically about other posters?

To me, the OP reads: "Are you (1) a jerk like this, or (2) cool like me?" And most of the controversy is around the many non-jerky ways to be different than the OP. It's really hard to avoid talking about other posters when the topic invites it. There's no real knife content, just ways of being a jerk or not with knife collecting.

It's not hard at all. The OP asked what kind of knife person "are you". Can you describe yourself? My post was made to prevent off-topic attacks on the OP in the General forum.

I'm the kind of knife fan who doesn't judge:

1) What people decide to do with their knives;
2) People who buy $700 customs;
3) People who buy $500 midtechs.

There are many different possible answers to OP's question - and none of them need be aggressive or confrontational. If that's your inclination, I'd suggest passing over the thread. For me, I buy knives that visually appeal to me. Some I use and some I don't.

Thanks for that. I appreciate it.

I'm definitely the user. I just replaced my poor old Buck with a Benchmade 915 for daily carry. The Buck was $26 and lasted 5 years and is just starting to wear down, shows that price isn't everything I suppose. Took care of it and it lasted.

Nice! I love seeing knives that have been used and loved for so long or someday owning knives like that. I haven't had any of my knives long enough. Regardless it shows character. What model Buck was it?

A good old 870, the point of the tango is worn down because it fit a lot of Phillips head screws in a pinch and the end worked great for flat head screws. A broken tooth in the serrated came from wire cutting. Looking back I was a little harder on this knife than usual but it still holds and edge and will probably go to my tool box for use there.

👍 I've always liked those. Never picked one up though.

I've thought of myself as a knife guy for a couple of decades but have yet to be willing to spend more than about $75 for one.

So from the original posting I think I'm the kind of knifeknut who is just plain left out of this discussion!

Most of us are!

And yet, ironically, you just contributed to the discussion by posting and describing yourself as someone who won't spend more than $75 for a knife. I'm sure a lot of people have the same, or similar price cap.

Welcome to the discussion. :)
