What watch do you wear?

Love the Seamaster, I'll have a Bond Auto in my collection someday.

One of my favorites:

I resist owning things "too good" to use. (I must confess that has rarely been an issue for me). Ana-digi watches are mostly ugly botches, but you have a good one that looks good and works well for you. Since you are not running a jackhammer or going into combat, why not wear it?

I agree. My Timex Metal Field was what I wore most. And I never would have bought this watch for myself, just not my style. Ani-digis have a bad history of clunkiness. I wore it originally to honor Sweetheart's dad and then found myself drawn to the watch's features, using them often. Now I go to it every day.

If you do decide to alternate with something cheap, Casio makes two coach's watches with basic alarms and lots of pre-set timers: AE1300 and W756. It sounds like they do what you need to do. They are $20 and $30 and they are so ugly you will laugh if you break one.

I have looked at Casios. Had one for years but lost it along the way somewhere. The least I can manage with these days working horses is a rotating bezel. I have to say that's the second most used feature on this Aerospace--the hands being first. ;)

Breitling, Rolex, Omega and other high quality/price watches are meant to be worn. They stand up to hard use.

Very true. Ironically, it's the highest-end brands such as Patek Philippe, V.P., and A.P. that mostly make very fine (fragile) dress watches considered Haute Horology. When you get to that end of the watch spectrum, you pay huge premiums to get a lack of durability.

Curious as to what watches you consider "too good" to use. Many watches many here would consider high cost/high quality/high end were specifically designed and built for hard use (not synonymous with abuse).

A Rolex Cosmograph "Paul Newman" Daytona Reference 6239

But some would blow their nose on a mere Paul Newman Daytona because it isn't good enough to wipe their tush. It is all relative. What watches are too good for me to use? That is interesting only to me, and at my age one must try very, very, very hard not to be a bore. Me, me, me . . .

Holy crud, you're my doppelganger! I rotate between an Amphibia, Orient Flight (Black on PVD), Seiko 5 (Green), and have been trying to decide between the Orient Mako or the Ray in orange. I'm having fun buying and selling watches but I'm keeping things strictly in the affordable, sub $150, department.

They're just such good value for money, all of 'em.
Have you decided yet on the Mako vs. Ray? I for one care more for numbers than for "blobs" or blocks as hour indicators so I chose the Mako.

Lately I've been loving those komandirskies though...

Been looking for this watch for a while now, and got lucky on a shopping trip down in Eugene.

I decided to go with a solar, Seiko SNE107 on a super oyster bracelet from Strapcode.. So far in loving it!

This is my EDC watch. I'm very pleased with the way it performs and how long the battery lasts when fully charged. However, I'm kind of disappointed about the bezel paint. That majority of the black paint has chipped away on mine. I may get a little adventurous and use some of the modeling pens and fill them in with a bright color. :D

If I could find that w/a blue face, I'd be all over it!!

Spoke to my dad today and he found his box for his Seiko 6105-8000 dive watch (automatic) that he bought in Japan on his way home from Viet Nam. So not only does he have a mint condition Seiko from 1970, but he has the box and all the papers too! The box still has the price tag on it. He paid $38 for it.

I've asked if he is going to send it to me, we'll see! fingers crossed! I doubt he'd get into the storage above the attic to get the box if he didn't intend to send it.
