What watch do you wear?

You were in Army? POGs are so cute! 1125 days boots on ground between Iraq and Afghanistan. There are several folks here with more, CM was in the main push for example. Being nasty and playing the "I was Army, respect my authority" card won't fly here very well.

Lots of great watches here!

Couldn't agree more... lot of great watches. Oh, and I must add that I agree 100% with most folks on this topic of the military viewpoint, and I'm gonna take it just one step further. For the life of me I can't understand how anybody thinks that being in the military gives them the right to shove it in anyone's face and let on like it's a valid excuse to have a garbage attitude or think that their opinion matters any more than someone who's worked in a lumber mill their entire life. Who cares? you volunteered to join up for whatever your reasons were.. to be a cool guy, to blow stuff up, to save a puppy or you just had absolutely no options, again, irrelevant.. nobody made you, so take that responsibility, that it's your own personal choice and understand that in a "free society" nobody has to care that you think your "service" matters because it doesn't have to for them, and to push that as a point in an argument is arrogant and self serving, like saying "you owe me for your freedom" lets just call your opinion, an opinion... just like every other taxpayer in the country. From what I can ascertain, that's the great thing about "serving" a free country. the freedom not to care.

Before I hear a huge backlash, I have spent the last 16 years in the military... still don't expect special treatment.

apologies ...got on a rant and forgot my entire reason for reading this thread to begin with. I wear a Seiko Skx007 as my daily work watch and an Ingersoll Oklahoma as my dress watch.

Boring to look at like all automatic movements, but gilding makes it a little more attractive.

Well, got my Certina yesterday! When I walked out of the store I looked at the watch and thought myself "daymn I'm looking sharp!" :D

Noobie here. It might sound stupid, but I'm taking no risks: is there any rules or precautions for setting the time for your watch if it has stopped, so that I don't do anything stupid like damage the machinery?

No, that shouldn't hurt it.

Do not set the date or day function (if applicable) between the hours of 9pm and 4am. This goes for almost all manufacturers.

All right, good to know! Thanks!

Say, out of curiosity, if I was in coma for years and the watch would be unused, how would you know how to set the date? Send it to service?

Unscrew crown and pull carefully until you feel a click... but second hand is still moving. Going up or down winding will advance the date.

Yeah, I figured that. I just thought if you would lose the track of month or even year where your watch is stuck. :D

Also it's best just to set the day/date for the day before, then advance the time to the correct day, date, and time to be certain you set it to the correct time before or after noon.
