What watch do you wear?

Iphone 4 because you can't work with a watch on your wrist.

My entire law firm, and everyone that works at my horse ranch would disagree with that (even the guys bucking hay). In fact, the guys doing hay would tell you that carrying a phone in the field is the best way to break the phone.

If I'm turning horses, the Suunto Core All-Black or Ambit2 Sapphire is my best friend.

Yeah, I figured that. I just thought if you would lose the track of month or even year where your watch is stuck. :D

The complicated quartz models with perpetual calendars have a correspondingly complicated date-setting process. It takes something like a dozen button pushes to set my son's watch. What model are you setting?

Very few mechanical watches keep track of the month much less the year. Set it to the day and date and go on. At the end of the month for months with less than 31 days you may have to reset the date.

The other caution is that you don't move the time backwards if the watch started in a period of time where the date mechanism might be about to change the date. For instance if you pick up your watch and it has stopped between midnight and 3 AM, move the time forward only.

Every Monday morning I put on a watch that is not running, one of 7 or 8 different mechanical watches that I wear frequently. I pull the crown out, rotate the hands forward until the date changes, then set the time. I know that the watch will be set to AM time. After setting the time then I can set the date if I so desire.

My three current favorites in my collection, got into collecting two years ago and it has been a sickness ever since. Something tells me my knife habit is going to end up the same way

No pix, but I mostly wear my G-Shock analog, atomic/solar (AWG0M100). If I'm not wearing that, I'll wear my 14 year old Movado that the wife got me from Costco. Unfortunately, the kids hid it from me so I've not worn it in a few weeks. I did pick up a Citizen Eco-Drive at a pawn shop for $12 2 weeks ago that I wear quite often.

Oh, I must add that I've worn a watch nearly every day since I was 10. I bailed hay, cleaned horse stables, worked on bicycles, computers, all kinds of yard work, and the only time I didn't wear a watch was navy boot camp.

I've occasionally taken my watch off if I knew I was going into a particularly messy job, but only to protect the watch.

I assume you mean AWG-M100 like this:

Practical, durable, inexpensive and easy to read (except for negative LEDs which are unreadable). I wear one when I'm traveling. Multiband 6 means it will time sync in China, which is nice if you're traveling to China. We need a second transmitter east of the Mississippi to supplement Fort Collins: the European Union and Japan both have two, and we have more territory. If Russia or Iran ever get on the program, the whole northern hemisphere would be covered — at least on land.

Have you ever considered running for president?

Thirty eight years ago I decided to take an active part in public life and save our great nation :D

Shortly thereafter I met a person called The Organizer, who told me something worth passing on:

You need to buy a watch. Buy a Timex if that is all you can afford. If you can't be where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there, you are of no use to anyone.

I'm actually embarrassed that I did not think that perpetual is more exception than rule.. Too much G-shocks. :o
I am however feeling the magic of mechanic auto! There's just something to them..

Blue face two tone Rolex Sub Mariner at work or church. Tag heuer Indy 500 when im kicking around. Or a Diamond Bezel Rolex presidential my father left me if I'm feeling really froggy lol

I have a rather long-ish story about running for President that I used when doing stand-up comedy. But no, I've never considered running for office.
Yes, I meant to hit "-" but instead hit "0", same watch. I got mine for $82 in Jan of '14.

G Shock DW5600E-1V. Nothing fancy. I like digital, backlight, and alarm. I like to see the day of the week and date on the front. I work nights and sleep days so I lose track of what day it sometimes....

Working horses all day every day this has been on my wrist full time for the last several months. I resisted wearing it as a work watch as it's my most expensive watch and I inherited it from my late father-in-law, but I need a timepiece that can count down lesson times and training times and remind me of appointments. I had it overhauled by a Breitling cert mechanic, saw the polishing job that they can do if I ever want that, and realized the father-in-law wore it everywhere. Cheaper watches can do the job just as well without putting over $1,000 in jeopardy, but that's what the repair shop is for. And so far, so good.

I may change my mind on this at some point.

I resist owning things "too good" to use. (I must confess that has rarely been an issue for me). Ana-digi watches are mostly ugly botches, but you have a good one that looks good and works well for you. Since you are not running a jackhammer or going into combat, why not wear it?

If you do decide to alternate with something cheap, Casio makes two coach's watches with basic alarms and lots of pre-set timers: AE1300 and W756. It sounds like they do what you need to do. They are $20 and $30 and they are so ugly you will laugh if you break one.

Breitling, Rolex, Omega and other high quality/price watches are meant to be worn. They stand up to hard use. I've been wearing my Rolex Deepsea every day for a year now. The case has scratches galore but timekeeping is well within chronometer standards.

I also carry and use nice knives too.
