What would you like to see us make next?

And how exactly is the Taboo blade shape different from a Spec Bump?

I never said the shape was different, but the Spec Bump is a DLC Coated Flat-ground blade, the Taboo is a polished hollow-ground blade.

Maybe Ken can find a happy medium, or even better, put out both a straighter drop point and the recurve!

First of all, Ken won't be making anything, it would be Kershaw. Ken provides the artistic design, then Kershaw handles the manufacturing logistics in order to bring Ken's designs to fruition. And it isn't as easy as just "putting out" multiple options of blades. A lot of time and money goes in to manufacturing each and every design. I've been begging for a flipper on the Blur for two years now, but Thomas said it would be too much work to redesign the Blur Blade. If we are luck enough to get a Taboo, don't expect a wealth of blade and handle options initially.

And ya'll remember that the handle and blade are directly related to one another. I.E. you couldn't put a JYD blade on a leek just because they are the same length. The blade must fit into the handle. A Taboo handle is designed to accommodate a recurved blade.

I agree. If I could really envision something truly original, I'd try to actually make it. That's why you do what you do. I look at most of your creations and think "yup, that's what I wanted". But I'll try.
1) Something big, bigger that an Offset or ZT 0200 that looks normal in mine and OL's hands, flipper, recurve, with a choice of blades like S30V, BG 42, SG2, VG 10. Not interchangeable, but easily changeable.
2) A gent's flipper, also recurve, perhaps olive wood or something similar, same blade option as above.

See? Pretty lame, but the best I can come up with.

Rik

that'll take some doing thats for sure.

Ken, I'm surprised you haven't heard these benefits of vascowear yet. If you have a vascowear knife, 1) you become more attractive to the opposite sex, 2) Your income level goes up,3)For some reason your calculus scores go up if you are taking that course 4) You wake up one day and find you can sing just like Thom Brogan , and 5) last but not least you have the original supersteel. tougher and more wear resistant than D2 and M2, and a bunch of others used nowadays. Not as shock resistant but more wear resistant than 3V. About the same corrosion resistance.

P.S., You can sing like thom Brogan, but no fear, you don't look like him. You are able to access his money through a teller machine though.

Ken, sorry if the topic has been discussed in the past but have your pondered the idea of a production Morph? That is actually one of your designs that I admire most. I know a knife like that would be great for the kind of uses I encounter on occasion: strong tip, comfortable looking handle, recurve, perfection.

For a folder:
Manual flipper (maybe Kick Stop flipper a la Ener-G?)
Micarta handles - white, dark blue, (non-black)
Wharncliffe (or close) blade
Framelock (or something other than a liner-lock)
Deep-carry clip

I would also be interested in seeing Kershaw do some high-quality backpacking axes (small, good quality, and with some of that Kershaw innovation).

Also agree with Shaman - a series of pocket and/or table sharpeners (conveniently carried together) and capable of anything from reprofiling to honing. Perhaps an instructional DVD on sharpening freehand/with guides as well?

Here is a simple idea for a knife that would actually sell. Purpose: runner's knife or gent's knife. Overall style similar to Leek.

Blade length 3-3.5 inches.

Carbon Fiber Handles, ti liner lock, reversible ti pocket clip, non assisted opening to minimize weight.

weight 1.5-1.6 oz.

offer choice of zdp composite blade or lower cost steel.

The obvious name for this knife would be the 'Marathon.' The light weight would also make it popular among backpackers.

Good idea, but shouldn't a runner's knife also be very rust resistance, because it comes into contact with sweat a lot? At least mine does.

What I would like to see in one knife:
-strong frame lock or other ambid. strong lock design
-premium steel, possibly composite or laminated
-reasonable light(max 4 oz)
-ambidextrous manual opening without speedsafe
-open design(easy cleaning)
-flat grind, but with a strong tip
-pocket clip
-blade length slightly more than 3"
-drop point or other design where the blade has enough belly, but not a tanto design.
-at the same time blade not too wide, because it has to fit in you pocket like it isn't there.
-reasonable friendly stylish design('sheeple friendly', but without making it gay)

and like this list isn't long enough, another feature I am missing in most/all knives: A removable tweezer, like in the SAK's.
I don't get why nobody puts this in a normal folder. There is plenty of room for it in the handle, and it is very handy to have with you. And I don't think it would cost much to incorporate it. You only need a hole in the handle and a small tweezer to put inside it.

Another idea I was thinking about, was to make it possible to turn the rel. strong clip of the knife around, so you would be able to use it as a small prybar. The clip always is the first thing that gets scratched anyway, so no damage done by using it.

Is there any possibility of a less "tactical" version of the Spec Bump?

Say, with an uncoated blade and either royal blue/ or blue black G10?

I would REALLY like to see a nice balisong from kershaw, one with colored G10 or carbon fiber handles(with SS liners), sandwich construction, PB washers, and a 4" recurve bowie S30V blade. Or a Derespina-style karambit with double serrations and a nice kydex sheath. If you really want a challenge, a karambitsong would be lovely.

Little late seeing this but since you asked.

I'd like to see a mini Zero Tolerance 300 series folder and a Mini Tyrade folder both with 3" or slightly sub 3" blades but still ample handle for us folks with basketball palming hands that don't need or really even want all that blade. Thats one of the reasons Emerson's CQC14 is so popular. It fills a need on several levels.

A mini ZT...that's not a bad idea Steve!

you would do that to me SPX :p

I would have PM'd you swingshot but you don't allow them. The Titanium Bump is less tactical. Polished S30V blade, Anodized Titanium Handle with Framelock

Not a bad idea indeed...but I still want a hollow ground SG2, ZDP, etc. satin finished Taboo!
