What would you want in a Delica 5?

I would like G10 on the 5. In G10 back locks they are much more solid with steel liners. Maybe Ti liners with G10. And CTS-204p? I am asking for too much.

Guys, you have to remember the place in the lineup. You're not going to see G10. You're not going to see CTS-204p. You're going to see FRN and VG-10, retailing for about $60. It's the entry level crack cocaine Spydie, and it has to be priced to sell. It's not aimed at the market that thinks Sebbie's are reasonably priced for what you get. If you want a choil and fancy scales and supersteel blade in a 3" package, the CF/ZDP Caly 3 is a-thataway.

As hardcore of a fan of 50/50 choils as I am, I don't think the Delica/Endura would be the same with one added. Instead, I would make the index finger area deeper cut and closer to the blade itself, and smooth out those points on the grip sort of like a Centofante 3 has. The points just create hot spots unless you have just the right size fingers to fit between them. Other than that, I think the Delica is about perfect size wise for what it is. G10 as a standard production option would be nice too.

Agreed, although a choil shouldn't be lumped in with the other options because of price. Spyderco has redesigned the handles and blade shape over the years, so there's no reason to think they couldn't add a choil to the Delica/Endura. At least, not based on cost.

Not sure that I really see a need for the choil on the Delica/Endura -- although I do tend to carry knives with choils more often.

I'd like to see G-10 handles but still FRN as an option and no more black clips. I like a semi-shiny to matte silver/gray clip -- all this loud, shiny stuff is too much. Maybe a wire clip.

Bring back the pointy tip
Put a choil where the gap between the blade and handle is
I'd like to see other handle materials, like CF or a shaped G10 as production not sprint and make a gentleman-ish version of it.
Wire clip for sure.

I felt this way about the snubbed tip they added to the line, and about the FFG and now they're arguably part and parcel with the series. I don't mind a choil -- I could go either way -- but if Spyderco decides to notch one in there, I imagine it will quickly soak into our collective consciousness as simply "standard" on an Endurica.

How do I explain this . When the Delica is folded there is a gap in between the blade and the FRN handle this is a big no no for me I love the delica but when folded that gap makes it look cheap.

After examining my Delica 4 I see that the gap is a product of the blade getting thinner. Are we looking at the same thing? If yes, then how would they fix this issue? I'm down fr a thinner pocket knife, but not a thinner blade.

miltmaldo is referring to the knife when viewed from the side. The gap being a squared off portion at the base of the blade that is exposed when the knife is closed. When opened fully, the squared portion snaps into place against the lock bar at the spine of the knife.

Wire deep carry clip, and maybe g10 over the frn. The g10 might make it too expensive though. Please keep the vg-10!

I can't agree with that. Properly done it wouldn't use up any space:

But even though I went to the effort of making my own Delica with a choil and a wire clip, I'm perfectly happy for the factory ones to remain as they are.

I bought a Delica 4 and an Endura 3 at the same time from a knife store in the mall that was going out of business. I remember just marveling at the 4 and how it seemed to me that absolutely every aspect of the 3 had been improved. I thought it was perfect.

I saw this thread title and laughed to myself. "No way can they improve on the Delica 4."

You have improved on the Delica 4.

I could give a crap about the handle scales, and I prefer a sheet metal clip to a wire clip because I've bent waaaay too many wire clips, but that choil is a thing of beauty, man. Cherish it.

For everyone asking for a Delica 5 with a choil and a wire clip... just get a Caly 3 already :D

That said, a Delica design (with FRN) that has a choil and a deep-carry wire clip is probably something that I would buy :p

Personally, I would love to see Spyderco go back to the previous Delica design and remove the steel liners. IMO they're not needed for the intended purpose of the Delica, and they seem to add a fair amount of weight and complexity (nesting the liners) to the knife. I could live without them.

I would buy a linerless Delica with the old pointy tip in a heartbeat, either a straight reversion to the Delica 3 or preferably with new scales and a deep carry wire clip. Guess I could just get a Salt and mod the tip.

G10, better gimping, keep vg10 wire clip, keep the 4 ffg, and have 5 be colored G10 FFG, my only complaint besides the gimping is that the knife had a bit of flex that i think g10 would take out and the loop over clip would be nice to keep it deep.
