Worst I run into is when I have something nice on me, usually a Spyderco, and they will want to check it out. Immediately after getting it I hear "oh man this is ok but I got all kinds of knives better than this" which so far has been a Case Trapper (not too bad), a Buck Bantam, and a few MTech Tac-Force elite operator specials. One guy went as far as to hold up a blue MTech, point at a big gaudy word on the blade that said NAVY, then lectures me how it says Navy right on there and it has to be the best to be a military issue piece and my Japanese toy couldn't compete. I restrained laughter and tried to explain... Reality... But to no avail. I must just be jealous and the $15 he paid was like hitting the lottery. Deal. Of. A. Lifetime.

Gotta love them MTechs. Especially the Tac-Force ones with the flash light, seatbelt cutter, glass breaker features

I worked with a guy just like this. If you told him about something you owned, he had six of that same thing in his garage. You have a story, he has the same story only slightly more exaggerated. Every... single... time...

The running joke at that shop was he had an expanding garage and has an adventure every night
Hahaha, luckily this guy doesn't call my shop home. 4 more weeks ..4 more weeks..

That's definitely a lot, and I don't really buy the story much either.

I'll bet I know the real story , the guys grandfather probably does own a lot of knives but they're probably just a few of those mega sets sold on cutlery corner for 150$.
His grandfather probably has 600 knives that he spent 400$ on which are actually only worth 1200$ ( you can get 2$ for them all day long at the flea market )
But since he doesn't really know anything about knives he went ahead and exaggerated.
For his benefit I want to say your absolutely correct. Today is my second day on the job with him, and it's still just the same nonsense lol. Oh well.

Man you hit the nail on the head for sure. It seems like certain people just don't like to admit there will ALWAYS be someone "better" than you. So they just make stuff up and one up everything:thumbsup:

Sad but true my friend. I figure those people need to learn the hard way on their own time. Not worth wasting my time or fighting. Even the Navy knife dude I just ended with "OK dude as long as it serves you, enjoy it" as politely as I could. The other MTech guy was my own brother, but I am going to give him a good knife for his next birthday and let it speak for itself ;)

Yup I've learned to just laugh and agree with this guy.

Funny I actually had my buddy give me 150 bucks and I told him I'd invest it in a decent knife for him. Long story short he's addicted and has already bought my sharpmaker off of me.

Maybe there are people better than YOU. But me? Sorry. Im the best. :D
Hey man I'm not afraid to admit it. Sorry if that post came off as I was belittling him. I'm just saying it's a good quote to live by. There is someone always better than you.

Of course it came out that way. It was your obvious goal of the OP, the way I read it. Have you met this fella's grandpa?

You'd think I was a total bullshitter if I told you my Grandpa has been collecting machine guns since the 50's, and his basement is insured for 8 mil. He didnt pay that for whats down there, to be sure (its accurately called an investment with some collections), but that was its assessed value as of summer 2014 when he let his FFL go finally. BTW, he was ain insulator for almost 40 years. Thats right. Construction worker. Some collections can explode in monetary value over the years. Of course, his collection of rental properties has done that as well. Plus the WW2 era Japanese tea sets, toy trains, old Pontiacs, and pendulum clocks. But I'm probably just some sorry loser bullshitter like your co worker. Right?

Nope. I could care less. The guy could be so full bs his eyes turned brown. My original post was just me trying to give benefit of the doubt. Now im just joking around.

He's not a co worker..he's a "staffer". Or "day laborer" "rent a drunk" what ever you want to call them.

Wile I appreciate the days work, I will keep my grandpa's collection to my self next time.
To bad I was going to give you one of his original Chuck Buck knives. One of the first 100 ever made.

Aquaholicc, hang around awhile, you will understand. (A quick way is to post a thread asking something like "what's the best knife"? or "what is this knife worth"?) :p
