OP doesn't get sarcasm apparently. Maybe it's an expensive blade lover but not the sharpest for sure =)
Hm not sure how you can say I don't get sarcasm? From what I'm seeing there are plenty of post on this thread alone that are either bashing me or other post for multiple insignificant reasons. Purpose of the post was to enlighten the fact that some people out there just seems to one up each other and that's fact..and it happened to involve "knives" so I shared it. No need to get all butt hurt about anything being said here?

I take alot of things with a grain of salt ... but just my modest collecting added up far faster then I ever thought until I renewed insurance and had some extras to add ... now its nowhere near $750,000 but its a hell of alot more then I would have thought just grows fast when you arent paying attention.
So I wouldnt discount it totally.
And it took the appraisers several days to find all the information they needed to give the correct assesment.
Stranger things have happened ...

Yeah, you just never know! Guess I'm just a huge pessimist.

I knew a combat medic and pararescue jumper who would lie nonstop about things he never did when he could just as easily tell true stories about his past and get all the attention he wanted. Some people lie and can't stop lying. He's a good guy too so it was kind of weird. Meh...

Sucks that this guy is bad at lying. If you're gonna lie at least make it a good story. But who knows. Maybe his grandfathers bucks and Gerbers were the quality ones from back in the day that are now collectibles. You never know.

Florida . . . Not like the rest of us.
remember......most of the folks here aint from florida. they are y'alls relatives and friends and such from all over. so whats bad about florida is the bad where you're from and the rest of this country. also whats bad about the world since we have lots of foreigners and expats here as well.:)

"Bad at lying" love it. Yeah at least try to make the story believable.

some people just like to hear themselves talk. deal with a handful about every day.

Look, those of you who (correctly) think some of us are being insensitive; almost all of us are aware that there are suffering people around, some of whom need to tell tall tales to feel worthwhile. It's not that we don't care (it's also not as if the person talked about here has ANY notion that this is even going on.), but this is a KNIFE forum about knives and funny and/or interesting things or stories about them. Life is sometimes (frequently/regularly for some), difficult or worse. Sooooo we can come on here and joke around and, even in this thread, bring up some subjects of knives and have a little fun. If the guy mentioned KNEW about it, yes, it would be cruel; but he doesn't. So, if some of us want to ridicule the dope (oops ), let it go. It's not as if we can warn grandpa that his little grandkid is aware he has boo coo bucks and is working as a day laborer and might off him.

I'm amazed that a thread started to build up the OP's mojo against a probably unreal caricature has lasted 4 pages. Good job BF! You're now competing with Seinfeld for the title of "Something about Nothing".

The amount is all relative. $750K is a very large number when it comes to the appraised or an estimated value of a knife collection, but not an impossible feat. I will not be much surprised if I discovered that a few of the members on this very forum own knife collections accumulated over 20-30 years, to be estimated north of 1/2 a million $ in value.

Of course when it comes to other collections this $um in peanuts. For instance $750K can only mean just a handful or certainly less than a dozen of ultra sought after watches in a Billionaire's collection, or less than a handful of classic cars. Let's not even talk about art but to come back to tools, gears and weaponry type of collections, there are some collectible shotguns which can easily set one back 200K to 500K per!

Funny you think I could make all this up. I just tell it like it is, simple as that.

I hear yah man, it's crazy what people spend their money on when they have no idea how/what to spend it on.

The veracity rings a little hollow to me. That's all. Just telling it like it is. From the get-go this felt like an attempt to build up one person by belittling another. I may be the only one who feels this way.

If true, it doesn't seem to be all that cool to be mocking your "rent a drunk" on a public thread of a public forum. It seems like we could be a little "classier".

But maybe not...
