Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Just put in an order for a Gene Wiseman Lanny's Clip in gray G-10 and D2. He just started doing the pattern, and I really like his take on it. It's gonna be a great user!

Right now I have three Opinels coming: no. 6 in stainless for my grandson, plus one in carbon for me, and a No.8 garden knife.
Congrats, Henry! My first Opinel was a carbone #6 and I love it (especially after I learned how to deal with the swelling problems). I also have a carbon #7 that I like at least as much as the no. 6, and I've often thought that my next Opinel will be a #8, and the garden knife is sure appealing. I'll be looking for a "review" from you for your new no. 8. (Believe it or not, I have a student whose surname is Carbone. ;))

today all these came in! :) First GEC ever held. Wow.
Congrats, Cody! Did each of those tubes contain a knife? I don't know enough about GEC to tell what you actually got without seeing the "lids" of the tubes.

I picked up a Rough Rider Muskrat in purple smooth bone for the girlfriend about 4 years ago and I was surprised by the fit and finish. Just ordered a Half Hawk in black jigged bone in their ''Coal Miner series'' It looks like a very sturdy little beater. Anyone have one of these RR Half Hawks?
Dan, I think you're going to really enjoy the half hawk if it's anything like mine! Mine is smooth tobacco bone, but otherwise identical to your Coal Miner, I'd guess, and mine is a way more than satisfying knife. Photo follows:

Alan....you will LOVE that knife! Congrats on a fine choice! Mine is a mainstay in my rotation.

Fantastic knife, Peter; that's a quintessential stockman! (I quit smoking cigars after 45 years a year ago last Christmas, but yours still looks kind of good to me, especially with the beautiful weather my area has had the past two days. :o)

Thanks Peter. My Calf Roper arrived today. I was a little disappointed at first, because I thought (from pictures) that the main was a little longer and wider. Here it is with my Case Humpback Stockman. After playing with the two the GEC is a hair longer. I guess the solution is the same as always. Carry them both! The Calf Roper will be in my pocket except when I head into NYC on the subway on the odd chance I run into one of my LEO buddies.

I got a GEC#16 Canoe in Amber jig bone that just cleared customs and is on it's way to my door. I cant wait. Also I am on reserve for a #14 TC Barlow in soup bone for august :D Hard on the wallet but well worth every penny ;)

My first Beaver shielded GEC! Number 2 of 25

I know this is a limited serialized run and even a PPP on top of that, but I cant wait to get this guy in my pocket and put some use on it.

Do you guys ever use a knife that's meant strictly for collecting?

I don't post in this thread much but I'm excited to get this one in so I thought I'd share.

Rick Menefee 3.5" drop point trapper with black micarta scales and a custom pocket slip...

Got my #16 Canoe monday and it's a beautiful knife I also have a TC Barrow on its way and a Norfolk Whittler comming soon .ill post pictures when I get them all together :)

I'd love to see a picture of your #16 canoe. OT: my family canoe is a Chestnut, celebrating its 50th year this summer.

Hi Dschal sure ill post pictures soon. Ive only just started collecting and only have three gec knives at this point and the Canoe is by far my favorite. I dont see alot of them for sale on BF and there's no video reviews by the guy's that usually do the gec reviews that I could find. Thats how I usually decide if im going to get a knife or not. Im glad I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this one anyways :)

I'm also new to this obsession, but I really have always liked Canoe knife patterns. I haven't seen many GEC #16 in real life pictures. I'm so glad you like yours.

My reference to Chestnut canoes was because I see you're in Fredericton, where they used to be made.

Two unexpensive knives on my way : a R73 Remington Doctor's knife

and a small Girodias Cévenol made in Thiers, 70/80's NOS I picked in Spain where the brand was a synonym of knife.

both pictures not mine.

3 Wharnies on the way, then found 3 Beagles and they are starting to come my way. Waiting on the one Beagles reservation that I had in also, so it can start my way. ;)

Just ordered three more Rough Riders.
RR 897 Marlin Spike, with yeller covers
RR 603 Large stockman, with yeller covers
and a 1051 Canoe, with twisted brown bone covers.

Yeller handle canoe is next on the "to get" list.
