Went full friction with these two. I intend to modify both, to Peasant I will install a sturdier stop pin, make a back spacer (aluminium?) and shape the handle more to my taste. With the higonokami I will experiment a folding leather handle/sheath combo that will rotate around a pin attached through the lanyard hole. Of course the idea with the higo is nothing new, as proved by Bladeforums. Stay tuned.

Got the knives. The Svord is what it usually is. The wood is a bit rough, blade needs some sharpening. Othervise it just needs a new stop pin and some kind of spacer and while I'm at it shorten the handle a bit. I thought about cutting a piece of leather into a suitable form, giving it a bath in cleaning alcohol to get all oils out, soaking it in epoxy and gluing the whole thing together. It would be much like wood.

The higo is interesting. The blade is fine, could be sharper but after a strop on fine wet sandpaper it is now good to go. The handle is a bit more flexible than I like, also there is play in the pivot. It did not cost much. I might make a Hiroaki Ohta - style wood handle and just use the blade, or soak some leather in epoxy to harden it and glue it over the brass.I hammered the pivot to make it tighter.

Now that stainless season has begun, I’ve ordered a few Case knives in Tru-Sharp to play with. Case has really been impressing me lately, so they earned my business.

  • Case/Carhartt medium punch stockman in black G-10 with “As Ground” blades. It was the only stainless Case punch stockman I could find, and I really dig the “As Ground”.
  • Case sowbelly stockman in Bone Stag. I have a couple of Case bone stags now, and really like the look and beefy feel. I know I’ll like the pattern, as I already have one in CV.
  • After salivating for years over the modded Case saddlehorn trapper in bone stag that @black mamba posts on occasion, I finally landed one of my own. I’m really pumped about this one. Such an incredibly beautiful knife.

Feverishly awaiting a CASE Tribal Lock in Whiskey Bone, Barehead cv. It'll be big but I hope I can find a life for it :D;)
