A non paying dealer sent me a catalog that showed the Case 2019 Vault issue Barlow, that is CV steel, and I'm embarrassed to admit I don't remember for sure what the scales are.... I'm pretty sure they are jigged bone. Anyway, I ordered one. I was told on the phone that it might be 2-3 weeks before it arrives.
I'm (more or less) patiently waiting...

One of my favorite Case pushers had some specials this weekend so this week I should be receiving:

1) Case 4285SP SS Doctor's knife (w/spatula) in sunflower synthetic - I've reeeeaaaalllly wanted to try one of these but always grab something I'm a little more confident in. But, at the price I got, it was worth the leap.

2) Case 3107W SS Yellow synthetic Mini Trapper Wharncliffe (single blade) - I'm excited tot try this one. Love the Mini Trapper pattern and enjoy the sleekness of a single blade.

I started to quickly scroll to the bottom of the thread to post a response but those big ole fat blades stopped my mouse dead. So cool! One of these days I'm going to get serious about a fatty of some configuration. Thanks for sharing. :)

An ebony Buck 110 for my dad for Father's day
A 55 for me
And an old jigged delrin Camillus scout for me off eBay, seems to be decent condition but of course I won't know for sure till I get it.

Hornetguy, it's a GEC #72 violet bone
Those are nice looking knives... if I can get over the sticker shock, I might have to see about getting one. That purple color is just really nice.... Good for your wife for getting it. Seems like the GEC's are a little difficult to find sometimes.

I've also been eyeing their boy's knife in ebony...... teetering.....

It is a very hard one to find and cost a good bit but if it's one you really want it's worth it. She actually didn't like any other violet bone 72 we could find pictures of, most were mottled.
I've seen some of the boys knives I really like, hope you find one just right.
I really want stag, single blade in either Wharncliffe or the same blade pattern as her 72 but slipjoint.

Broke down and ordered a Bear and Son barlow, with red stag bone handle, and 1095 carbon steel... thought I'd give them another try. Last Bear I had was a long time ago, and I was sort of indifferent about it... not bad, not great. We'll see if they've improved.
This is a stock photo...

...yeah, I think it's sort of a crapshoot.... hopefully more "shoot" than "crap"... I read quite a few good reviews from folks that had bought them. Biggest complaint seemed to be blades that were hard to open.
We'll see.

I just hope yours is good, because my last 3 were complete "c--p" . I returned the first 2 and kept the 3rd for a junk tool, because i got sick of paying postage. All mine had shocking blade play, especially up and down play. Was a pity because i really liked the knives. Hope you do not have any problems with yours.

After seeing some good reviews about the small rough rider cotton sampler purchased one and very happy with it. Is going to be used as suggested as a cheese and salami platter slicer. Could not help myself, just ordered the larger one in smooth brown bone, i think it will make a good skinning knife and all round kitchen meat knife for the smaller cuts of meat. Have already a few Rough Rider knives and like them and no probs. so far. Have a good day every one.;)

I ordered one of these sweet-looking Sunfishes, too. Just today.
They say the back-ordered shipment is in and they're doing quality checks on them now. They expect to ship soon, so hopefully we'll have them in hand before July

The "blue stabilized oak" looks great

I don't often, if ever buy a second of a knife I already own but I love the Tidioute #66 so much I really wanted to add another to the stable. I never quite warmed up the the Northfield version. I kinda feel like long pulls and cut swedges are a little overrated in GEC knives. Anyway, I opted for an autumn jig bone. I really like the jigging and dig the shield on this one. Been eyeing it for a while. Pic is of the knife I purchased from JSR Sports.

I am over-the-top excited about this one I have coming to me.
I posted a while ago that if I could design a knife, it would be a GEC #15 single blade with end caps and a shield.
One of our members remembered. He deleted a blade on this one and offered it to me at a great price. More information when it arrives...
