Fine. I was just responding, and I’m not actually currently “listening to”, but fine. This Is The Way.
And there is also the "What are you listnin to, oo, oo" thread.![]()
Orange stuff has worked good for me stripping Busses.
Incorrect.
Also fine. And it’s awesome you got to see Sabbath back in the day. The advent of “Heavy metal” to be sure.#barf
You're taking my #barf a little too literally and personally. It was meant in a lighthearted fashion...though I do admit I've lost my taste for the genre.Fine. I was just responding, and I’m not actually currently “listening to”, but fine.
Clearly it’s subjective. I’m sticking with “Piece of mind”.

In a similar fashion I see Maiden as the advent of “speed metal”. The genre got way faster after them, until they were just metal.
“#barf” seems a bit harsh though.
I mean, I get it if you’ve never really listened to them. At a glance they appear to be “devil” music. But they are not. Bruce Dickinson (lead singer) seems to be pretty intelligent. Works a lot of human history, myths and even some literature into their music.
I believe you are familiar with Sam Coleridge’s “Rime of the ancient mariner”.
I feel like you quoted something from this recently or alluded to it (somebody did).
In any case, I recognized the reference not because I’m so well versed but because of Iron Maiden.
Enjoy!

No offense was intended. We all grow with what we're exposed to.
Thanks, Matt. I sent you a PM a little while earlier to make sure I hadn't unintentionally given insult.Worry not my friend! No offense was taken. I’m a little more thick skinned than that. Like you would have to try repeatedly to offend me and even then it likely wouldn’t take.
Just thought you’d find the “Rime of the ancient mariner” interesting - if in fact it was you that mentioned or alluded to it.
I can’t think of a lot of bands that could tell that tale in a song and have it become a fan favorite.

This is what I remember past the albatross...going from memory:
It is an ancient mariner and he stoppeth one of three
By thy long grey beard and wandering eye now wherefore stoppest thou me?
and...
The rock shone bright, the kirk no less, that stood above the rock
The moonlight steeped in silentness the steady weathercock...
and, of course,
Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink
Water, water everywhere and all the boards did shrink.
Other than that, I remember enjoying the poem, and the symbolism...but I'm no expert on it by any means. I don't recall if I mentioned it or not here previously. I tend to ramble a bit.
I’m not the sharpest m&m in the drawer, but I remember stuff… sometimes. It's torture. I feel like the ancient mariner with apenguinalbatross around my neck.
I must've really earned some bad karma.
That is DEEP, man. I couldn't even follow it all. I'm either too drunk or not drunk enough. Ima gonna watch again tomorrow in total sobriety.
