Here's my third ground knife. It was my 5th that I have finally fully finished. I ended up getting 20 together to send to Peters to save a little on heat treat. All were ground on a craftsman. Expecting an Esteem this week or early next week! Can't wait. The knife is CPM 35vn hardened to 61 with camo micarta scales and carbon fiber pins. Thanks for lookin!

Thanks Daniel! Very nice of you to say. For those of you using the craftsman here is my frankenstein. I cut away a lot of the aluminum and bolted/JB welded a bunch of steel to it to make it more sturdy. Also added the glass platen and a little bolt thing to adjust the tracking by 'bending' the top of the grinder either left or right.

annd one more knife. Thin 3v heat treated to 62 by peters.

Lookin' good! I too have an Esteem and my 2x42 looks much more hacked up than yours! First thing I did was remove the table, then I hacked away some of the guard so I could fit low grit, cork and scotch brite belts on it.

Was good for learning freehand. Thing is so fast it makes you work carefully lest you gouge something in an eyeblink.

You realize the factory bolt all the way at the top of the machine is a tracking knob?
I too cut away part of the factory frame so I could fit thicker scotchbrite belts and had to reinforce the frame.

Lol. Yes, I am aware. I guess a more accurate way of saying it would be that the bolt is used to lock the entire part holding the tracking wheel in a fixed position. I can adjust tracking with that as well at the bolt at the top. After cutting away a lot of the aluminum from the original machine the whole thing would twist while applying pressure while grinding, making my grinds uneven. That is why I added that 90* steel and bolt.

Got my first and last gut hook done.
It was also my first time using g10 and first time not using bolsters.
Twist damascus, red liners, black g10, stainless corbys and thong tube.

So is leaving a high carbon steel blade unsanded other then the cutting surface after heat treatment a growing trend? Seems like I've been seeing more and more of what looks like scaling on finished knives.

A couple of clients tantos in the works.

The S35VN is actually getting a brass guard, brown ito cord and black stingray skin

The A2 is getting a stainless guard, black into cord, black sting ray.

Got a new work rest for the KMG, made by DD Workrest. Going to save me a few headaches, and replace my angle iron clamped on the arm for squaring up profiles.

Height adjustable

Rest configured vertical *note* if you flip the mount upside down, or mount it on top of the arm- the rest will be in line with the platen. I was in a rush to snap this shot, before it started raining.
