This is the third profile of this blade in as many days. Trying to put serrations in it and I am having a hard time getting them even and looking right.

Got this leftover Vanax from a piece 12x2x0.08" I got from Chuck (AKS) about a year or so ago, so I had to do something with it:

Not easy at all to do freehand, but I'm happy with the result so far...

This was the other knife:

So I work construction, and at our shop we have almost all the power tools I need. Unfortunately for the Christmas break/winter layoffs I don't have access to it for a couple months.. So I set up in my kitchen. I went to home depot, and the dollar store, and spent about $200 on hand tools and materials and things. I am focusing more on handle working at the moment, but I plan to build a knife filing jig as well, I have a few blanks laying around yet to be beveled. And plenty of old knives before I started making handles at all. Forgive the mess, the kitchen is more of a workshop then a clean eating area right now lol..

First picture you can see all my stuff laid out on my work table, I have fixed a nice flashlight up on the wall for extra lighting.

Second one is just a closer look at the same. You can see I just said fuck it, and nailed coat hanger wire to the table as a garbage can, as the area generates so much scrap I can't justify walking the 3 feet to the trash can.

Third picture is my sanding/clamping area. Don't know how much I trust that counter top, but it will do for now. I also use that mini oven for heat treating, as un ideal as it is.

Fourth picture is just how much saw dust I generated over the last 2 days, making scales, and bit's for household jigs and such from scraps.

Last picture is the handle I spent most of the day making. I found an old dresser in an alley, it looked like some nice hardwood, so I took a couple slabs off of it. I spent about half the day just cutting out a chunk, splitting it, sanding it down, and then shaping it to the knife and finishing it, it looks like nice wood though whatever it is, just a coat of varnish on it. The knife itself is nothing special, one of the first ones I ever forged out of a file, probably will just sit somewhere. I just wanted to practice my handles though so it was a project. First time ever using pin's as well, what an extra layer of pain.. Oh well, it didn't turn out as a total disaster.

This week we're working on a new finish, without our standard milling lines. I think the mirror looks pretty cool but we'll try a satin finish soon too. This is one of our outdoor knives in S35vn

When you have a knife (or anything) you really do not want to sell, do not put a price on it. I was showing my first forge welded steel knife to the owner of my neighboring winery and he asked for the price. I tried to tell him about warranty but he said "I don't care about that because I am going to buy it anyway, how much". I put a price on it and he paid that plus a $60 bottle of wine! Sorry to see it go but I'll make another. Only thing I regret is not taking the time to take better pictures. Jess

I'd say he got a good deal, no matter how much he paid!

Still the single best damascus steel I've ever seen.

Now hurry up and make loads more and show everyone how awesome it should look. ;)

I started working on some small EDC type knives in AEB-L recently. Not sure what kind of material I will use for the handle.
