I've been playing around with natural texturing lately. Some is straight up fusing, others have been heat based reticulation.

Too cool, Daniel. I wonder what that would look like if you heat colored the Ti and lightly went over it with some 2500gt to bring out the highlights.
Excellent! :thumbup:I can't stand Ti on a working knife cause if you have any sweat on your palms it can slip out.
Congrats on your second knife!
May I suggest for the next one that you ether buy a known new steel billet or buy a File that isn't covered in rust.
When steel is that rusted, Its in the steel and you most likely will have rust spots reappear with a small amount of Moisture.
Doing a little leather work and just in time. This one goes to the local VFD Fire chief with 33 years of service. Good guy; its a surprise.

Would this be true using old logging cable?.
Can this be forged out ? Or once it's there, it's there kind of thing
Teppo,
First, let me say I am a stock removal maker and have limited forging experience. Twice, about 18 years ago.![]()
Its my understanding from chatting with forgers that the Oxidation is burnt out when taking the steel up to critical temp and the reheats.
But, I suggest you ask some with a lot more forging experience than I have and see what their experience making Damascus Cable out of old Cable has been.
