Stark I love your handle work bud! And the damascus is beautiful!
Stark, I hope you're in school for something related to continue your knife making business. It's so refreshing seeing a guy your age with so much skill.
Those are very nice knives. I like the shape of he blade profile very much and your grinds look great. They are a useful size as well. Please share some more as you make them. Larry
Looks really good buddy! The only suggestion I have(if you're looking for some) is to match the angle of the plunge and the front of the scales. That's a-lot-o knife to be using a 1x30!This just came back from Peters, an 18" X 1/4" X 2" 5160 chopper. I'm working on this run (I do two at a time, that's a "run" for me) & working through mistakes, sanding, small efforts & getting better slowly. This is my second attempt at a knife, the first was the 5" fixed blade D2 pair (so glad I didn't use D2 for a 1/4" X 18" blade, ugh). I'm a bit limited by my 1x30 grinder, but it works as long as you aren't in a hurry to do too much at any one time. I've had both blades run at 58, so that should be fine for a chopper & hopefully will take a beating without too much rolling or trouble. The 5160 is plenty tough at 58 & should be OK.
I'm thinking seriously now about making a 2X72 grinder, this 1" belt is fine for small stuff, but it's a real PITA for something this big. It's hard staying awake, while walking a pass across the blade so slowly after lunch sometimes....
Here's how it looks with a 220 finish, the scales in place & basically roughed-in. I'm going up to a 600 grit finish when it's done.

A better detail of the grip, black canvas with red liners will be the look. Still need to cut a lanyard tube for when it gets glued up.

The business end, it's about .025 behind the edge. I'm going to set the bevel at 19 degrees with a medium-fine diamond when it's time to sharpen.

Thanks for looking. This stuff is really a blast! Slow progress, but I'm learning as I go so it's all good.
