Thanks Matt, appreciate the feedback about the scales, missed it completely but you're right. I'm not changing the plunge line now that the blade is hardened, but the next scales will use your suggestion. They'll be bloodwood, not a synthetic, so it should be easier to shape them than this black stuff, it's pretty hard. Any other feedback is welcome & appreciated by this newbie.

Just finished up this paring knife in AEB-L with white corian, black linen micarta, g10 and brass accents.

Chuck, That is a beautiful paring knife. It would be cool if you could make a chef's knife with the same handle configuration to go with it. Top work Bud! Larry PS You are going to love your new disc grinder. LL

Thanks Larry! I thought about the paring chef knife combo and it would be cool. Another project added to the board. Your right about the disc grinder also, I love it already. It seems to be one of those tools that when you put it to use, you wonder why you waited so long to get one.

Finished up this hunter. It's forged from 1080. The blade is 3.75 with a curly maple handle. Summer has been busy with other things so this is the first I have finished since June.

hey boss, what's the wood on the top knife? i picked up wood in afghanistan and that's the exact pattern of the grain. Nobody could identify it and it would be awesome to finally put that to rest

That's Irish oak from the drumoland castle co Clare

Working on this puukko for a buddy in Wyoming. Kind of a test/prototype blade to test out my D2 heat treat.

Blade is D2 with cryo, handle is stacked black rubber with coyote brown kydex spacers and a brass butt cap.

Trying out my new light box.

Much to learn, but so much better than smartphone photos.

Great stuff going on here fellas! I have been busy busy lately but I had a chance to run through the stuff on here and it's great to see what goes on.

Anyhow, in-between being busy I got a few things done but there's always more to do than I got done it seems. Sorry about the crappy pictures, it's seems like it's either phones pics or no pics at all

Attempted my first multi piece handle. Pretty happy with how it came out. Definitely more difficult than I thought it should be lol.

Here's the latest to come out of my shop. It's been tough to get in the shop so far this fall. It feels good to get one finished :thumb:

Also added a 9" disc grinder to the shop this week. It's wired to the VFD I use on the 2x72. I added a forward and reverse switch too. I really like it so far. I think it's going to really cut back on my hand sanding time

NC Biker would you be willing to share the details on the table for your 2x72? I think I see some substantial wheels on there.

Sure, no problem. It's a Harbor Freight machinery stand with a piece of 3/4" plywood on top. I added HF 8" solid rubber wheels, so I could roll the grinder outside when it's nice. The axle is 5/8" round bar that is U-bolted to the frame of the stand and the wheels are held in place with a couple of shaft collars. You just push back on the idler arm handle, pick up the front, lean it back and it rolls rather easy even though the grinder is quite heavy.

That is awesome. I'm looking to make my grinder more moveable and this might be just the thing. Thank you very much.

Finishing up some New York Sneaks and Stiff Horn Sneaks.

Trying something new with this utility knife I'm working on. I originally had planned a chisel grind but I didn't want it's tasks to be limited. It's full flat ground on both sides, just a steeper angle on one side. Thoughts? It's ground super thin so should be a great slicer. .070 aeb-l and ground to almost zero.

Honestly with that grind it looks like a mess up. Like you over ground one side. Not saying you did just that's what people will see. My though is if your going chisel then do it if not then center the edge and make the plunge cuts even. Let's see a picture of the other side of the blade.

Not to be offence but the grind comes off as sloppy workmanship to me. I am with JT, either go with a chisel grind or center the edge for a full flat grind. IMO the off center grind just doesn't look proffesional.

No offense taken guys. I appreciate the honest feedback. I got so caught up in doing it this way I didn't stop to think that it would look anything but intentional. Now that you guys point it out I agree. Guess I should ask questions before I grind next time lol. Into the scrap pile....
