Here's the little fighter I had glued up when I posted the picture of my profiled blades.

I really like this knife Willie. Great piece of antler. Overall I'd have a tough time letting go of that knife. Is that a superglue finish on the handle?

Its elk antler, and I soak it in amber analine dye overnight, then the next day I soak it in ebony analine dye for about an hour. Once dried, I profile it, giving the white sides, then steel wool the rough areas showing different dye streaks. I soak CA from the but end to seal the pith, and it saturates the whole antler basically stabilizing it. I just got my cactus juice and will try that on the next one and see how it works. The CA allows a nice polish as I sand. This one was to about 800g IIRC, maybe 600g? Definitely not a fine 2000g finish. I really had a hard time letting this knife go. I am making two more now, one for a friend who also fell in love with it when I showed him, and one for myself. BTW, I did sand the grind marks on the spine before sending it out. There is a nice subtle hamon with nice activity that didn't show up in the louse pic.

made a "test drive" knife for people to use before they get the real deal.

8" blade, 14.25" OAL. 52100. 62-63 RHC. Black paper Micarta. Copper bolster, copper & aluminum mosaic pin.

Nothing special, but they perform nicely. They are over on the sale forum

Is this a dead thread yet or not?

I finally found those difficult little "brad" nails to attach my machine palckards back onto the horizontal saw. I also got busy with the Aspen Green paint.

Almost there.

Great stuff Ron, that guys turning out looking really good. I love restoring old useful machinery ecspecially when ya have the time and resources to make them look good.

I went coyote hunting this morning and picked up three great mesquite burls. By the time I get them cut down, if it's not too punky, there could be 50 or so handle blocks in there :)

Working on a pile of pikals. This one pictured is the first non prototype completed and going to my good friend and mentor, retired Sergeant Major Kelly Venden of Criterion Tactical.

I hate taking pictures.... more so when I decide to toss in a well used ghille top that throws mud crumbs and jute lint on everything

I realized with my talk of tools in my shop, and cleaning, I never did post a photo of the current 'what's going on'

Here's my Hunter roadster, getting ready to be on the road this next year, and the reason my shop has been such a mess and so few knife shaped objects have come out of my shop in the last few years.

So here's my new year's day photo.

OMFG!!!! That is a great reason to not be making knives!!!! I have a '57 Chev 2Dr hard top waiting to go into my shop as soon as I convert the reptile room to a shop with overhead door. I want to do a Factory 5.0 Cobra conversion from my '90 mustang 5.0 as well.

I have been working on upgrading my forge as my weed burner just wasn't cutting it. Made a Frosty style 'T' burner from plans I found on IForgeIron. This baby rocks, it sounds like a freaking jet engine. It is a naturally-aspirated burner made with various plumbing parts like a 3/4"x6" nipple, a 3/4" tee, a .035 mig tip and a few other parts. By far the most simple, straight-forward design I have seen. Here are some shots of it out of my forge being tested, running in my forge, and a short video of it cranked up.

Now to start working on some memorial knives from a very, very large farrier's rasp and a very large file that both belonged to my grandfather that just passed the day after Christmas and was laid to rest this past Monday. My Dad wants one with a stick/hidden tang, though I've never tackled one of those. Any tips on designing them on paper as I've never even drawn one up yet.

I've been going way off the beaten path lately with all of my commissions, so decided to take a day to get back to the basics with a 5" drop point.

I'm gonna tweak the tang down a bit. I just scribbled it in real quick.

Is that a CZ 527?

No, Remington 788. They quit making them in 1984? or somewhere thereabouts. Mine's a .223, shoots better than any gun I've ever owned. Groups around 1/2" for five shots at 100, but I have to really watch the wind to get them that small consistently.

Well, it was a late one. Wanted to make sure I had these ready for HT tomorrow. Was focused on commission work for the holidays, and didn't get to do many of "my" projects during that time. This is my first for the new year, now that I got most of my sheath work out of the way, as well as some necessary shop cleaning/maintenance.

The drop points are probably getting buckeye, and the mini bowie will be a framed coffin handle, probably in ironwood burl.

Its been several months since I had my surgery and I'm beginning to feel stronger and a more able to work a full day. Its about time because I have orders to fill and projects to explore. Here's a few I currently have "on the bench".

All are forged blades:
-A petty in 52100 that will get a reshaped handle.
-A couple of gyuto, 1095 for the small, 52100 for the larger.
-A fighter in 1084 for a Canadian forces soldier. It was heat treated, but I didn't like the twisty warp so I annealed it for straightening.
-A Searles bowie interpretation in 1084
-A, well..... I'm not quite sure what to call the bottom piece. Its 1084 also.
