Well 2 folders are basically done, just waiting on heat treat to get back. So on to the next. I'm gonna try only using 1 liner on this one to see how it goes.

Also sent off a sheet of titanium to get water jet cut. Should yield about 12 blades. Just gonna have them cut the profile and lockbar cuts . Have a happy new year everyone!!

No knives for the past 8 months, (two moves, work, school, deployments and living in Navy Housing waiting to close on our new place and most of my tools in storage.) Finally moved in a few weeks ago. AEB-L with "not-so-hidden" pins and first attempt at a stamped leather sheath. Crappy job but will finish it to learn. Think this is #3 for 2018. Looking forward to the new year!

Set up a Kydex Rivet Press this week!

  1. Drilled the center of the ram.
  2. Drilled and tapped a 1/4-20 set screw
  3. Modified my hand riveter from Tandy Leather
    • Cut it shorter and milled a flat in it for the set screw
  4. Welded a threaded stud onto the riveter anvil; then slit it into the slot on press's anvil
    • Lined it up with the ram and tightened it up.

HSC/// that's a really cool knife.

Nice touch, those dots

thanks, And I did it late in the game as it popped into my head. I plunge milled 3/32" with a carbide end mill and then oversize with a carbide reamer. I wonder if I've finally innovated something ;)
... and should I do this to every knife and establish a "signature"... :D

You added the dots after HT? Please describe how you did this if you don't mind sharing. Do the holes pass all the way through? and then peen a rod? Thanks.

yes, after HT. Note the laminations are soft, only the core is at 63-64 RC

1) figure out how to hold it rigidly, pic below, ignore the hokey fixturing but it was rigid. I placed that fixture in a Kurt vise on my BP mill.
2) plunge mill thru hole with carbide end mill. use cutting oil and go slowly, move table over in X axis and repeat.
3) ream with carbide reamer
4) insert rod, peen. grind flush

Got it, thanks, that's roughly what I figured. Very nice. For a minute I thought you might be onto something for my viking sword inscription (where the engraving isn't deep and doesn't pass through)...
