While waiting to get my kiln up and running again, and setting up my hardness tester, I'm kind of held up in making new blades. So I went to the old "maybe" pile of blades and picked up this one in .1" RWL-34, to keep my hands busy.. It's from before I realized I could do things plungeless. Just finished it to 400 grit and put some G10 on it (finished to appr 1200 grit). It's tiny. Right after I shot this pic, I dropped it into the granite patio, chipped the edge in two places and got some bad marks in the G10 :)

Yes, who could have figured!? :)
Maybe my heat treat just sucks..
This actually the second time I chip an RWL edge from being clumpsy and/or stupid. First time I was hand-buffing a handle while not having the edge taped. I slit my finger, screamed like a little girl, and instinctively threw the knife into a steel tool rack. Not so good..

First knife without instruction. AEB-L @61 from Jarrod, mystery wood handle finished with Danish oil, 1/8" brass pins. Ground using an angle grinder and hand sanding. Still needs an edge and final spine polish. The wood was some 12+ year old stake in my shed that I think was red oak. Very hard to work with only hand tools, but looks way better than i could have hoped.

Looking forward to any feedback!

Well, my attempts to embed the images all failed. Tried both the button and manually typing the codes and url. All I get is the broken link icon. I wonder if the fact that it is a gallery is messing it up?

Yep, my failure was trying to use the gallery link in the img coding. Lesson learned. I will sharpen it and finish the spine and try for better pictures when I can.

Just used my evenheat for the first time, seems ok. Followed some of the guy's instructions on here for a piece of cpm 154. The controller was easy to program, just set it and forget it. My hardness files scate up to 60.

Good looking dirk!! I think that's going to be one of my next projects.
Now that I finally got a kilt in my clan's tartan I suppose I really do need the rest of the bits and bobs...

Here’s my new recurved Tombstone Marauder V3 ready to glue up. Probably my favorite with the convex swedge. V1 and 2 had concave and straight swedges. Cut and slotted the guard on Jan 24 and worked every day since nights and weekends. Every process seemed to take a long time but slow is fast!

52100 with blued steel guard and pommel and tri color G10 spacers between the bocote and leather. The elk antler pith was removed and replaced with a slotted oak dowel. Block and antler are reinforced with 1/8” internal pins. The stainless pins in the blued pommel really stand out. The edge is near sharp already and so is the swedge! I’ll be gluing up forthwith and hope to finish the sheath by tomorrow.

Beautiful Pablo!
Amazing work Pablo! Beautiful set!
ditto Pablo. Those are beautiful

Dang Pablo! Those are awesome, and it looks like a heck of a lot of work!
How long did that set take you?

Thanks Guys, thanks a ton, just returned from holidays, yup its hot summer down here in Argentina.

The set is a two artisans job, I commissioned Guillermo Scarilli the box 6 months in advance so it could be delivered by years end, he asked me to provide fork and knife OAL and average width, which I had because the design was agreed with my customer beforehand.

The knives were hardened in a large lot as I usually do, around 150 knives, and then they waited their turn in the books, around December started grinding post heat treat and they were finished around mid January, then Guillermo took them finished and did the final touches and fittings to the box.

I have a new box in the pipeline, will be ready by end of May, again working with Guillermo. BTW, he works for overseas customers too, mostly antique or collectible guns, but you saw what he can do for knives...
