Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with it so far!

'course it's also 95 in my garage/car port right now, so I only got an hour or so of grinding in before I got to hot to deal with it anymore...

Well after a lot of work and a long time gathering various items for the shop I got my forge up and going. This was my first knife and Iearned a ton.

A few key points:
-plunge line would have made sense, maybe don’t focus too much on grinding out every hammer divot and forget to add them.
-breaking a wood scale in half while everything is covered in epoxy is a setback
-The 1inch belt sander from harbor freight doesn’t remove material that quickly. The files did a better job.
-1095 was Probably not the best first knife steel to chose.

Without these forums I can only imagine how badly I would have butchered my knife. I had a lot of setbacks but most importantly I learned a ton.

I visited a friend some day ago in his machine shop to steal from him some HSS if I can :DOne of his workers ,also my friend.............was trying to make knife from HSS steel with angle grinder :p I barely persuaded him to give up and give to me that piece of crap to make something for him :)
So here we are................ he didn't even notice the crack there
From this .....................

To this ...............3.5 inch hollow blade in 3.5mm thick HSS is max. what I can done .I don't think he'll believe that this was made from his piece .......:p

I have some questions:

How do you know of which hss steel the disk is made of? What are mu cutting disks? How do you cut that disk without overheating? Will you temper the blade or use as is? How is hss in terms of rustproofness?

Thanks

All data was laser stamped on saw , Fredy Cro. My friend use HSS saw from wittmann-komet....I have several in M35 and one in M42 HSS...they are quite expensive....over 1000 Euro piece depend on steel ,size , thickness and coat .Particularly this one is Yougoslavia made ...........more then 30 years ago.
Cutting disk i use are 1mm thick.....best one I found to be cheapest one .This is first time I cut 5mm HSS ...hard work !Cut .......stop.....cool....dress disk....cut ...stop . This one glazed edge on cutting disk many times...I use diamond to make them cut again. With 3mm ,2.5mm no problem , I cut them in one move .........no heat at all .
No temper .Rust......they are better then simple carbon steel.M2 will rust .M35,M42 are far more resistant .....I call them stainless:)
Fragile stuff........but they would stay sharp/cut long time in right hand

OK, so good, expensive saws will have the info stamped. Good to know, when I am in fleah market next time..

Where do you get the serrated contact wheels because I would like one for my Hardcore but they are pretty expensive

I got these off of amazon. These are as cast in the hole. They have to be machined for a bearing pocket or reamed to be a drive wheel.
