Nathan,

You have been really knocking them out!

Nathan,

You have been really knocking them out!

Yeah man, 30 of them. That's the most I've ever had finished at the same time.

Good job linking your name here with your real name, I hve a hellof a time remembering some names.

What's that sign made of, or is it just a printed graphic ?

It's aluminum that we painted and then skimmed the top off. I didn't take a very good picture of it. She faced it with diamond so it's really quite shiny and pretty.

Just completed my first hidden tang knife handle, and only my third knife I've ever made. And the first sheath I've ever made.
It's an old frost/mora laminated carbon blade I had sitting around, which had an ugly blue handle. I decided it needed a little upgrade.

It now has a ziricote handle, with a bolster made from African blackwood sandwiched between two quarters. The front quarter, which forms the guard, is a Vermont state quarter (my home state).

I'm just about done with some some major shop renovations. The bulk of the work involved removing an old cold closet/root cellar that had occupied a corner of my basement workshop for the past 7 years. The floor in the closet was gravel so I poured a proper concrete patch. With the closet gone I gained access to two ports through the foundation giving me the chance to upgrade my dust removal system which is in-progress. I built three new work benches, a new wood/handle material display case, I also gained an additional 1/3 more floor space. One new breaker, two new electric outlets, two new lights, and a bit of new wiring will be run, as will a new interior foundation wall door be installed separating my shop from the rest of the adjacent basement(its an 78 year old house with an addition).

This is the old:
You can see the door to the old cold closet behind the belts.

The new(although new completely set up):

I salvaged this box during the annual "heavy garbage pick-up" here on the Island. Each Spring people put out piles of unwanted junk and the municipality comes and picks it up free of charge. Its an event many wait anxiously for each year - indeed some plan vacations around the two week period just to drive around hunting heavy garbage! It now holds all my antler and bone:

Ahhhhhh, much cleaner, Not that it'll stay that way.

I wish my shop was that clean. :D

I spent some time today practicing my engraving, all hammer and chisel work. For scale purposes that is 1 inch wide flat bar.
Darcy:)

That's an inviting looking shop, Peter, I dig that box as well!
And Dellis, whow, that engraving looks very good. You've got talent!

Darcy,
That's some great looking floral work, are you planning on accenting with some gold leaf?

Thanks Rhino,
That's just some quick practice work on a chunk of scrap flatbar........I haven't tried any gold inlay work yet.
The top scroll is just basic scroll, and the bottom is relief engraved..........both with the same spine layout. I'm hoping to get good at it one of these days........more practice:thumbup:
Darcy:)

Got to finish up my favorite model today. Fjord hiker in 3V at 62. I really love the handle contours on this one. (ground on Nathan's 72in radius platen for an ever so slight hollow grind.)
