What's going on in your shop? Show us whats going on, and talk a bit about your work!

Working on only my second wa handle and I came up with this little grinding jig based on tools I had around the shop. Horizontal grinder setup was clutch, combined with a simple V block.

Then I just threw a speed square on the work rest to give myself an easy setup for 45 deg chamfers to an heirloom fit. Pretty happy with how it worked out!

Not my shop, but Bob Kramer's... :D

I spent a couple hours there, and between the BSing, he taught me how to set a primary bevel and walk it from the secondary bevel, to the spine. Not as easy as he made it look, lol!!! I've got a lot of room for improvement, that's for sure. Right now confidence and practice are holding me back. I definitely started to get more comfortable with the 2 x 72 though and it was a LOT of fun!

We should have them cleaned up (gotta fix my rookie mistakes, lol), heat treated, and all finished up sometime next month. I'm pretty darn thankful for this opportunity!!

I've been watching your engraving for a while now and it's darn impressive. It just clicked to me about the colors - or to ask how you got them. It looks like you're using voltage for each color? How are you isolating each color band? Those colors are impressive - really set the engraving off.
It's selectively done with a brush style electrode I built.

@ WValtakis WValtakis : That is just too cool for sure. Your work I've seen on the forum is just amazing. Does anybody else do color anodizing using your method for small details like you do? I'm so glad you post your work here for us to admire.

Thanks! I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I have yet to see anyone else doing something directly comparable.

typical dirtbag knifemaker move...guard slot too wide? #fixitwithahammer
Not a damn thing wrong with that😂

I finally got an end grain cutting board made and finished this couple of kitchen cutters for my brother. 1.4034 steel might not be premium steel, but it grinds, polishes and sharpens good. With dry ice bath it will reach 60-61 HRC easily. Loved working with Madagascar palisander, very dense wood with a subtle finish.
