Had 2 friends come over to the shop this weekend. A mini EDC for one's 8-year daughter, and a santoku for the the other one as wedding gift for a common friend (cherry wood handle was rescued from a fire wood pile from the guy getting married and comes as as surprise, the tree was cut at his grandparents house). Should darken in the first couple of weeks and be even nicer. Was surprised at the density of the wood, no large pores and nice to work with.

Small issues with the santoku are gaps on the fitup and a off center pin.

Forged this blade today, I always like to forge a test blade right before I start teaching a new class just for practice. Pre-cut a preform then tapered and forged the bevels. Started with a 6” long preform and ended up with a 7.5” blade. This process keeps the handle nice and flat without having to use a press or flatter.

Got this air compressor running tonight. It has been sitting around for a while, and I asked the guy that owns it if I can get it running, can I use it for stuff. He said yeah, so I gave it a shot.

It turned out the motor was froze up, and it kept flipping the breaker on the tool. So i took it apart until I found what was stopping it. Turns out it was the air pump. I guess it got rusted and gunked up. So I cleaned it up, and got it moving.

Now I just need to make sure the pressure gauges are working properly, and all that. I'm not sure if they are. But it's going to be nice being able to use pneumatic tools, and if I decide to, a sandblaster.

If anyone has a recommendations for a pneumatic die grinder, I'm all ears, and any other good uses for a compressor.

Oh I figured I would add. I'm going to take a good look at the tank, and everything tomorrow to make sure this thing is safe to use. If I get the impression it's not going to be safe, I'll either repurpose the motor for something (its 2.5 hp, so maybe a grinder?)or see if it's possible to get a replacement tank.

Eric, first. Beautiful knives! I have been wondering over the past year though. Why are so many of your pictures in a car!?!
They're my babies and I can't let them out of my sight! Often I will take them with me to work and go visit them during break. Or if my wife is taking too long in the store I will break out a sharpie and make adjustments to the profiles,(as you may know, knife making can be very addictive!)🤪
