The knife looks good, but just out of curiosity, why did you heat the tang up?FInished up this classic style gokujo/boning knife for the Kith. Thin stick tapered for a nice amount of tip flex
Simple knife but very happy with the result and small details. Good old 1084 with swamp Kauri handle heirloom fit.

Changed my mind on pin placement so drew temper back to drill and liked the colours so kept them. The knife looks good, but just out of curiosity, heat the tang up?
I thought it may have had something to do with pin placement.Changed my mind on pin placement so drew temper back to drill and liked the colours so kept them.
Yeah it refers to a non flush fitup. You can see the scale on the handle in the second photo are about a mm proud of the tang. It's sometimes referred to as a museum fit as well.
Here’s a little edc drop point I’ve been working on. It has a D2 blade, black walnut burl wood scales, green liners and brass hardware.

That one in the middle looks pretty cool!Straightened the bottom one and got the bevels roughed in on the top 2. I’ve gone a lot slower with these and so far I’m happy with the results. Just need to finish cleaning them up and then it will be time to sand and polish.View attachment 1878659
Thanks! I’ve always liked the shapes of “modified sheepsfoot” and santoku blades. I got out a sheet of paper and started drawing one day and that’s what came out after about 10 minutes of scratching around. That one in the middle looks pretty cool!
