Nice! Have you had any issues lately with the blades arriving from Peter's pretty bowed? They seem to have gotten worse latelyLookee! What came in the mail today from Peter's!View attachment 1925377View attachment 1925378View attachment 1925379
That's interesting, I had some folder blades recently, surface ground on my sga but no grinds... Some of them had a .007" bow in the centerNo problems whatsoever!
Did the metal plate get cut?![]()
My wife put the pizza cutter that I made for her recently to work this evening. This particular pizza had thick toppings, so it would have helped if I made the blade a tad taller.
The edge held up very well. I didn’t even notice any flat spots. My wife is brutal on kitchen blades, so she definitely puts the heat treat to the test.Did the metal plate get cut?
Or did that effect the blade?
I really like that stained glass look you yet on these geometric patterns. They're very pleasing to the eye.
Thanks! That's the effect I was going forI really like that stained glass look you yet on these geometric patterns. They're very pleasing to the eye.
Gaboon EbonyI dug through the scrap bin at the local woodworking shop yesterday after work looking for knife handle stuff. The top pic is what I found after I got it all cut into slabs. It only cost me about $9 or $10. Not sure what kind of wood the bottom middle is between the marble wood and walnut. Might be iron wood but I can’t place it. The bottom pic is some Bocote I bought and cut and a dyed stabilized piece I ordered but it’s not as orange as I’d hoped.View attachment 1926494View attachment 1926496
Thats pretty cool that you could finish a knife while you were out hikingView attachment 1926508
Out of the shops today but got some cool photos of this new “Shanto” model I finished up while out on a hike. This one is made from apex ultra and I’m keeping it as a test knife and cause I haven’t made myself a knife in a few years. Shanto is a combination of multiple name ideas, Short tanto, tanto, shunt because it looks surgical, and ultimately combined to Shanto which also happens to be the Japanese word for shunt.
I guess punctuation is not my strong suit haha. I guess I could hand sand handles while hiking although with my luck I’d trip and get impaled by my own knife.Thats pretty cool that you could finish a knife while you were out hiking![]()
