Strange indeed! What is the application for such a device?Working on something strange....
I'm planning for a copper guard on the main hub/handle and copper pins holding in the blades to the hub. The blades and the hub are low layer damascus and the wood is stabilized birch.
I'm hoping this shows up in a video. Because that picture is not enough information lol.
Pre heat treat or after heat treat with your sunken areas?
this is how it was out of the oven. Most of the recurve was ground in before htPre heat treat or after heat treat with your sunken areas?
Curious how that is with stresses
Thanks

there was a bit of a wow out at the tip, but between temper straightening and grinding it be gone
I think one of the main reasons you don't want to finish a knife to much before ht is if you have decarb and get some pitting or whatever. Not a problem when you send your blades away and they're done in a vacuum oven, as per past experiences. I build a 3V knife and tried to reduce the atmosphere as much as possible in the envelope by squeezing out as much air as possible, but ended up having to grind bits of the envelope which stuck to the steel. A couple of these aebl knives got some pretty bad decarb and I figure it's because there was just too much empty space in the envelope. Delicate balance, I suppose.Ok, thanks. That is throwing a wrench in my thoughts that blade thickness needs to be consistent as to not induce stress fractures, or something.
You proved me wrong
similarly, I was under the belief that a feature like a saw back on the spine is best done After heat treat?
PS.... the top two blades look Sweet!
Came out beautifully. My model Ibis which makes a handy fixed blade EDC
