Would you call it a hunting knife or a user knife?

Nothing currently happening - gonna try and make some quality time out in the shop this weekend. Just wanted to express my appreciation to all the contributors on this thread. The examples (both finished and in-progress) are really inspiring for a novice like myself.

Hope everyone has a safe and productive weekend!

The Set of Smaller Shiny S90V Sharpened Shechita Shipped!

S90V is MUCH easier to grind pre HT! These are the 2 big ones, still got some grinding to go! I did notice that when the belts get worn/glazed, they just polish the steel, so when I start seeing reflection at 120 grit belts, I gotta grab a fresh belt! The belts still have plenty of life for other steels though. I'm leaving the edge at around .040" before HT and will do the final grinding post HT.

I asked the guy about the 4" ones and told him I can turn them into hunting/edc blades if he didn't want them and he agreed, so I will be making some more smaller bladesfrom the big hardened blanks! I gotta get more discs for my angle grinder to cut them down. Haven't had much luck locally finding someone to water jet the bigger blanks down for me. S90V isn't too bad to grind hardened when it's a narrower blade! The wide blade and really shallow angle seems to take forever w/o seeing progress, but the narrower ~1" blades were much easier to grind!

Finished this one today. Not exactly what I had drawn up but I was able to correct a few things that I had struggled with on other knives. Didn’t intend to have a finger choil but I had a little “uh-oh” working on the plunge lines. Somehow everything ended up so shiny it is almost impossible to get a good picture of it.

Edited because I can’t type tonight.D4F8DD74-9505-45EF-9D99-E965B6BBFC0E.jpeg

I had the old journeyman kit from Knifekits. It was okay, but not great. The dies worked fine, so I cut down the ram arm from the press, milled a flat in the male die....voila!
