Finally got this Gyuto finished up... ended up doing a dark hand-rub. Stabilized bog oak from Fixall , vintage gold rag micarta, and brass. New laser is working out really well too

Acid dip and scotch Brite. It's been done before, I didn't come up with it haha, a friend of mine turned me into it.

Fossil walrus tooth scrimshaw on a 2.75"X1" walrus tooth. Cocobolo base with fossil walrus ivory accent. OAL 3.75"
Hard to get a good photo that conveys the look. I did slightly different contrast to show it as best I could. White areas on walrus are reflection/highlights that are not there.
