I've already taken it completely apart to start the restoration.
If anyone has one or has any info that maybe useful please let me know.

That is a sweet little machine. I bet it can handle some pretty rough cuts. With the column doing all the Z-axis work I bet it runs pretty smooth coupled to that base.

I like it a lot.

Thanks Ron. I just wanted something that would make slotting my guards a little easier.

Next weekend will bring a big restoration. I'll be picking up a 50lb Little Giant power hammer.
If folks are interested, I'll do it as a WIP.

I
My first venture outside of kitchen knives, which is strange as I have been a hunter long before I was a chef. Been working on them between kitchen blades and using up leftover bits and bobs for handles and hardware.

The middle knife really looks great. The blade finish, handle color and pins all play well together. Can you provide details on the liner and wood and mosaic pins?

Thanks. The wood is black dyed spalted maple. The liners are G10, and the mosaic pins are 1/8 sunbeam I think, from usaknifemaker

That mill is so cute, I want to put it in my living room and pet it.

I know, right! I was thinking that same thing, it's so freaking cute! It looks just like a milling machine, only farther way!

Very cool little mill.

Working on some knives, before small knifeshow in Warsaw.

5 from M390 and 6 from N690, 2 from 80CrV2 :)

Now I need to make new jig for grinding >.>

Had a small piece of 1/16th thick O1 stock left so I decided to make a few kiridashi. Here they are right after being cut out, they still need to be shaped, heat treated and then ground.

Really great stuff guys... I'm uber impressed that this thread is still going so strong. :)

LP Mac... those are great. I really like the lines and styling.

Eric- Nice acquisition!

Bob- That knife is super clean and I think you nailed your goal. The only thing I'd recommend is a thinner grind... It's just MHO, but the really wide secondary bevel comes off as out of place on a knife like that. You didn't ask, so it's probably not even worth $0.02... but I'm throwing it out there as food for thought. :) It's a great looking knife.

Nick, I'm always interested in your feedback. I am currently grinding my EDC's down to a .010" final edge thickness. I worry that going any thinner will risk overheating the tip where the knives really have a tendency to get hot fast. I am cutting in my secondary bevels on the EdgePro with waterstones at 20° per side. I realize that the deeper cutting edge will be harder to resharpen, especially in a steel like S35VN. Do you think thinner edge is the answer or should I change my sharpening angle? I have been very happy with the cutting characteristics on these but, I'm sure they could be improved.

Excavating and building a new foundation for my powerhammer. Havent found a place that will pour just 1 yard without charging me for 3 though, so I may have to do all the concrete mixing and pouring myself.

Just have to get the rebar in the hole, and weld up some nuts to some plate which will have pipe over it and be suspended from the top for captured nuts in tubes to match the mounting bolt pattern of my hammer and be cast in place with the concrete.
