Applying some 3d slice laser effects to threaded bolsters on slipjoint. The end result is a triangular profile of when viewed from the side. placing two of them that are mirror images of the profile close together leads to a thin strip of bright steel after final profiling.

can't seem to get Imgur to show up like it used to ....

some recent work

First off, these are incredible. Always loved your work but I don’t remember seeing pieces quite like these. Very cool!

Second, between that issue you had with have to refigure out how to post the way I wanted, and the radical political content Imgur seems flooded with, I’ve moved to postImages. I’ve found it just as easy to use and without the feed of content Imgur shoves onto every page.

I don't ever do custom orders because time is precious these days and I can't be beholden to someone else's schedule. But here is one I'm doing for a very patient customer, who has given me grace to complete it on my schedule. Alot of contouring and finishing left to do.

Whittling away at batch of straight jacks I heat treated together. This is a boys knife clip blade with bigger swedge, and small long pull. The threading cut with laser but is different than just a straight slot. It has some contour to it, a triangular shape that ramps down then ramps back up.

3.5" closed, 14C28N stainless steel, 416 bolster/shield, 410 liners, pinned shield, mill relieved bolsters. Silver twill carbon fiber that just shimmers as the knife rotates around.

Video
of walk, talk here. It might not come across on the video, but I've had 2 of 3 carbon fiber knives I've made have different sound on the walk/talk. And at the snap to halfstop and snap to open more 'buzz' seems to get transferred to the fingers. I haven't figured it out but think it might be to stiffness of carbon fiber in certain directions. It sands easy, too easy in fact.

learning how to use the machine- designed myself some moccasins, so first project is underway!

My super old crocks died a little while ago, so I been rockin some socks for walking around the house. I get a toupee's worth of dog hair from the dryer's lint trap every week from them, though. I've been wanting to make my own footwear for a long time, and the machine opens up a whole new dimension of possibilities which I'm just now starting to really appreciate, so this is a good starter project.

This moccasin is based off a traditional Metis pattern, but I modified it to be rugged instead of cozy.
