What's going on in your shop? Show us whats going on, and talk a bit about your work!

Once I had both ends marked (this can be a bit tricky to do right and I did not do it right, hence some inconsistencies on the ribbing), I filed both ends with a needle triangle file.
Next, I filed across slowly with the same needle triangle file, you must stay as straight as possible here, and then filed with a square needle file. The square file changes the angle a bit and makes it easier later on when it's time to round the ribbing.

I've seen master smith Jordan Lamothe file the initial ribbing and then he made a custom scraper and scrapped the rest of the way. I haven't tried this way but it seems to work nicely.

Here's a new neck knife in 3/32" NitroV, mesquite and turquoise. About 6 1/2"

I decided to give another go on a slotted guard on a full tang and reminded myself pretty quickly why I do not do/like them. I didn't want to use solder on the joint which made it extra difficult to get a seamless fit.
Integral guards is the way, you cannot get a gap if it's one piece, right?

not exactly what's going on IN the shop. but I just closed on a new house.
this pole barn came with the house. I'm so excited to have a real workspace. It'll be at least another month before i'm up and going
as i'm staging/selling my current house.
Wife loved the house (ok I did too) but the pole barn is all mine :)
Not seen in picture behind me there's a full bathroom. and a room with this old but working air compressor
with air run out to the shop and a hose on a reel. quite a difference from trying to jam into less then 1 bay of a garage, and it's got a giant natural gas heater and it's all insulated.

Wow, what a great work area. The only thing left to do is fill it with so much stuff you have to make paths through it to get to things. How high is the ceiling ... 12'?
thanks, 14' each of those door panels are 2' high. the lift takes a lot of space but i have a lot of space. if it wasn't so nice to have, i'd gut the bathroom and make it the grinding room. debating how/if/where I stud out a grinding room in this space to keep the metal dust contained. but i have options here just weighing them.
