What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Hurrul Hurrul the Sylvan XL will have a 13" and slightly taller blade with a more pronounced thumb ramp. The first run will be from 3/16" stock, a little thinner than the .225", but the extra length and blade height will make it a harder hitter as it will be proportionally more front heavy than the original.

Funny - when I got my most recent version, I wondered idly what a longer bladed example might be like...

I think added blade height and 3/16" stock, could make a great made-for-use and materials-processing type blade geometry.

Any interest in sheaths made with printed Kydex like this? Down the road... ?

I feel ambivalent - I don't mind the print and if you made a knife I wanted to buy, with this print/pattern, and posted it to the general public, I'd buy it. However, if it were up to me and the option to choose existed, I'd likely opt for a solid something color.

What model is this beauty? Prevail XL perhaps? Is it possible to get one without the nipple at the bottom of the ricasso? TIA.
I think a Wonderful varient would be if you shifted the whole blade Down, basically removing the thumb-ramp, and shifting the edge lower (getting rid of the nipple) in the ricasso area.

When I had the pass-a-round I was thinking of this.

I didn't understand all that steel up on top? But I admit, I'm not a thumb ramp guy.

I think it would give the nice a nice curve to the look, as well. Complimenting the curve and shape of the Very comfortable handle.

*I Need to buy another knife from you, if you need me as a tester? :D

Yep, I concur. IIRC David has some models with one smooth uninterrupted curve from the butt of the handle to the tip of the blade and the design will just *FLOW* visually in a most appealing way. It creates a dropped blade angle without the break created by a vertexed angle at the ricasso.

The guard and blade positioning of the Prevail series is set up to accommodate a certain leverage in cutting with the thumb on the spine.

I designed the Boomerang to be more aesthetically flowing, but I personally prefer the Prevail for actually cutting.

Or the Prevailito. This is a prototype, created from an existing MagnaCut Prevail Wharncliffe blank, upon the request of DocJekl DocJekl , that mad, beautiful genius, who suggested the Prevail should also come in a smaller (3.5") flavor. Purple heart scales, red heart liners with a red G10 pin up front and a copper fob tube at the butt. Behold:

I love the belly on the blade vs full flat wharncliffe.

I love having a place on the spine, where the rear of the blade meets the handle, to rest my thumb with cutting.

The red pin pops and adds color to tie in with the red liners.

I like that the handle is still long enough for a full grip even though it’s also been reduced like the blade.

And I like the slim and narrow sheath so it will fit in my front pants pocket, yet can also accept an Ulticlip should I so choose.

I do plan to get something like the midirang someday, but this had to happen first. I’m also looking forward to my Badger Scout in AEB-L and blue micarta handle. (Should Badger have a blue Kevlar pattern sheath?)

Thanks David!

I was asked to make a fixed blade similar in philosophy to the Tuff Lite specifically for use on cardboard, and this is what I came up with. It's AEB-L, thin behind edge and oh so sharp. Comfortable grippy Suretouch handle, and this one is a cardboard destroyer.
