What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

David's knives are addicting. Once you realize just how incredible they are you will want more and more. I own quite a few and feel this subconscious need for more haha

I have tons of Benchmade knives and almost as many Spyderco, with CHRIS REEVE KNIVES in 3rd place for knives/brand. But David Mary Custom has now surpassed Hinderer for 4th place, and soon David will be in 3rd place for most number of knives per brand...

EDIT - I may have to count my Swiss Army knives, but not if I count them as multitools and not knives.

Speaking of brands..... brand new idea for a run, in .196" AEB-L. Expected completion is late summer/early fall 2023, and I am willing to take reservations with a deposit. Those conversations can be had by PM, email, text, or phone call.

The 11.6 x 23.5 .196" AEBL sheet is on order, heading to Jarod for plasma cutting, but I am now at war with myself over questions like "do I make 7 wakis, or 5 wakis and a Barax, or 3 wakis and two Baraxes, do I open the sheet to custom orders", etc.

What do you guys think?

I almost think it would be bad karma Not having all wakis......

I'm also on board with getting 7 Waki's into the world. It seems to be the best use of the sheet. It looks to me that the barax wastes alot of space on the sheet and may be better off as a bar stock blade. Maybe put feelers out for a barax group buy in 8670 or 80crv2 🤗.

My .02$

Well I found a way to squeeze one more waki on the sheet with two Baraxes.

Not saying this is necessarily what I will end up doing for the run, but given how efficient I am getting a making this kind of hidden tang knife at least now I have a way to make the design more efficiently and economically. And yes I have already tested this manner of hidden tang on large choppers, and it worked very well. Solid as a rock, and the lightness of the handle makes for excellent rotation. The first time I ever saw a partial tang chopper like this it was a Dan Keffeler knife in a Cliff Stamp video.

The only real difference is his handle is one piece of micarta whereas I envelop the tang with a piece the same thickness as the steel stock, and then pin scales on either side like a full tang knife. The ones I have done have held up to hard use just fine.

Here's the video for those interested. It is quite satisfying to watch. scarysamcary scarysamcary 's One Shot reminded me of this blade somewhat. Knife shows up at 1:25.

That is awesome. Not sure it's in the budget for me right now sadly but I wouldn't hesitate to use it. Your partial tang is still 4" long.
