What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

And before I head home for the night I thought I’d take a few minutes to get a blank prepped for a new design variant of the K-slick, inspired and named by my friend Wild Willie Wild Willie . This one will be the K-slab.

From the same 3/16” 8670 cleaver shaped blank as the Micro Chooper that BlindMouse2of3 BlindMouse2of3 keeps insisting on calling a chopper for reasons I can’t fathom, and the David Bowie.

That means the only one left cleaver shaped at this time is the one still at Andy’s shop.

I’m just following orders. ;)

Autocorrect kills me... I voice to text alot, while at work 😉. I don't mean to drop the O. I did loose the chooper (I had to fix that twice before my phone left it alone) today, I coworker whom I trust came in and was talking about having to cut up 2 cows this weekend then grabbed it off my desk and his eyes lit up like Christmas. I told him he could borrow it if he took pictures. We'll see if we get action pictures or not since I know he has a lot of work to do but should get it an honest first days work and a good description of how the textured suretouch really does.

Fixed blade Friday was awesome

I could be way off base but I would think looking at those scales aside from the shape and detail the difference in materials would be a challenge to get them to come out the same as they would sand at different rates of removal. Soft vs hard? (If I'm not way off base)

Either way coming together nicely

The Bolivian Rosewood is 1960. Bog Oak is not rated as it varies so much but English Brown Oak is 1360 before the hardening process begins to make it Bog Oak.

Hidden framed tang knife. These are always super light for their size.

That last pic was just to show how it will fit in there. But it’s curing now sans blade.

And it’s that time of year again!
