What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Anything with the word "Universal" in the title means that I will be giving those custom blade shapes according to the customer's request, or my own whim in the case of knives destined for a sales post.

As stated before, no guarantee all of these will make the cut, but I will try. At this point nothing new is being added to this run. Some of the designs below are one-off customs, or universal blanks designed to accommodate one off customs, and leave me with blanks I can modify further to my own or other customer's preferences.

You can see my love of light and fast knives reflected in my extensive use of material removal in the tangs.

Unless otherwise stated, any of these designs can be requested, including items stated to be one-off customs. Only a small number of these designs have restricted access, which I will note below.

Ultralight neckers have been standardized, whereas my first few batches I sized and shaped them every which way, the experimentation is, at least for now, over, and we now have 2.9" blades and just under 6.5" overall. Very capable small knives for neck or pocket carry (a recurring theme you can see clearly with a lot of the designs on this run).

Bitty Bitey Baby Birdie and Fried Liver Attack seem like no brainers to include.

Neck Universal 2.5 is based on a custom design requested by someone a few years ago, which I made in small numbers but each one received high praise, hence its return now with higher degree of customizability, and some improvements under the hood, like a slightly repositioned front pin.

Stubby Chunk Universal, for example, is a hair under 3" blade, but it is for the original "Stubby Chunky Tanto Monkey" owner, who wants a new one with a smaller overall profile. So the one off will be a mod of that blank.

"Mike" is not the model name of the Short sword, but for a gentleman named Mike who requested my take on a LOTR Sting inspired design.

The GT cleaver is a design that was copied directly from a customer image and is a one-off Chinese style veggie cleaver.

EDC Universal 1 is the Bird & Shark handle with a fully customizable blade up to almost 4".

EDC Universal 2 is a larger EDC blade with slight thumb ramp and up to 5" customizable blade.

My friend Mister Ouderkirk owned a Spyderco Ark, and always expressed how much he wished there were a wharncliffe with jimping in a comparable steel. So I designed one, and it is called the Ouderk-Ark.

Edge-C, aka "Every Day Gentleman's Carry" is making a return after at least a couple years. The only ones I can think of off hand are the two @oldmanwilly owns in different blade shapes, and one in MagnaCut owned by Mister Ouderkirk.

Chopper Universal is to accommodate a design request from a gentleman for smaller knife, but the handle will easily accommodate up to a 12" blade, hence the expediency of making his design from a larger blank and having the extra blanks to make for others.

247 Clip Point is a GKC design for an exclusive run, and @bikerector alone has access.

The four Dog knives are exclusive to @Lucky Dog Knife Co who alone has access.

The Midnighter Fighter is just awesome, and needs to make a comeback. There will be at least one fully serrated one, and it will be glorious. :thumbsup:🔥 😍🤩😍🔥🫶

The Mustelid Scout series were a hit with everyone who owned one, so ditto to that too, with fully customizable blade shapes.

The Prevex rescue is going to be serrated with a round and crowned tip for maximum safety.

The Prevail officially gained a little brother a while back by the suggestion of DocJekl DocJekl to make a Prevalito, which has closer to 3.5" blade. Now it will have a baby brother with a sub 3" blade in the Prevalini. And the updated return of the Prevail XL goes without saying.

I have updated the Ring knife universal blank to include a downward sloped spine with jimping, since I found that in just about every custom blade shape I have done with them so far, I ended up sloping to spine down to align the tip lower, and I received a number of requests for jimping, which will always be less expensive for you if I have it cut by the waterjet rather than do it by hand on a hardened blank.

The hand axe is a little thicker than the original which was made in .140" stock, and AEB-L instead of MagnaCut this time, with a refined and better skeletonized handle.

I have been wanting to make a matching kitchen set for a while, hence the Meta-Fork and Meta-slicer.

Finesse Filet, a design collaboration with @TDOG1, has been a hit with everyone who tries one, and it now will come scaled up with a 9" blade for larger fish.

Samurai Pierre, 9" chef knife that's part French and part Japanese.

EDChef and TeenyChef are returning, given my desire to offer a comprehensive toolset for the kitchen, and a steak knife, of course, which you can be sure I am hoping people want serrated (because serrations are awesome).

After doing considerable research and consulting with some leatherworker friends, I now have a round knife design to start offering. Note that it is relatively large, so it can be customized smaller should the craftsman desire a smaller blade.

I have been asked a few times for ulus, and now my original design has received an update based on user feedback (ie slightly narrower and shorter stem for improved control), in addition to a slightly wider blade, and I am going to offer slotted ulu that is closer to 10" for bigger jobs and stuff like pizza cutting.

I think that covers my plans for 2025 and well into 2026. I will still consider making customs and one offs outside these on a case by case basis.

They are not here yet, but when they get here I will be able to make a number of glow in the dark neck knives with glow in the dark fobs. I'm super excited about this material, as it has great reviews praising its beauty, durability, and the longevity of its glow.

When you're back on the clock would you send me a screenshot of the stubby chunky universal. The little corner picture is pretty pixelated by the time I blow it up. I'd like to get my crayons out and play with some shapes.
