What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Saw that an Australian women set a new pullup record with 733 in one hour! Then I checked the men's record and it's over 1300!

My record was pretty weak in comparison. IIRC it was 384, at a bodyweight around 200 pounds. September 2012 in a contest I ran on physicalculture.forumotion.ca, which no longer exists. I started it when the forum I was a part of, bodyweightculture.com was getting overrun with spam and the admins were too slow to do anything about it.

Sadly I have lost touch all the guys except one who is now a daily chess partner of mine.

My 1RM for that contest was a single pull-up with full range of motion and two 45 pound plates chained to my waist.

My one set max was 20 strict pull-ups with correct form.

So yeah I have lost a lot of ground.

You may recall the denim micarta handled 24/7 variants I did earlier this year for the real Good Knife Co. Well the handle material was sent to me by Chad for his order, and he not only sent an extra pair of scales, but there were cut offs from the scales for the knives on the order that are big enough to make composite scales from.

Since he was kind enough to “donate” those to me for use at my discretion, I thought it only fitting to re”donate” (ie no charge for the material) some back to another dealer who has been very good to me.

Hence the current GuardDogs in progress. Here’s one after getting the scale ergos installed.

Still doing the grunt work on the Lucky Dogs. But I took a Tetris break, which led to realizing my stabilized wood bin was overcrowded.

“But David, that doesn’t look too bad”

Agreed. Because I introduced a new bin today:

While toying with ideas for a new pair of scales.

Great looking place ! :thumbsup:

Trees and even on a lake ?

May you ,and yours, be much blessed in your new life and home . 🙏
Thanks Doc!
It needs some work (built in 1962) but we’re pretty excited. :)
You might be remembering that we were thinking about buying my cousins house that was on the water, but with some help from us and hopefully a part-time housekeeper she’s going to stay in her house for now. The place we’re buying is 10 minutes away from her and has a view of Clear Lake. It’s not on the water, but it’s got a garage and a shop and my wife loves it so I’m ok with that. :)

Also, I got my dealer subscription so I’m going to stop hijacking David’s shop thread and start a new one in this subforum called “New Brand! Accipiter Knife and Tool!” See you there!

If you sharpened the straight edge instead of the curved edge you could make the Pikaled Weasel. Green GripX would be a requirement for the first one made.
