What's missing from your traditional collection?

Whoa whoa whoa, when did I become Santa? I thought Charlie held that title currently!

I definitely could find a spot in my collection for a few more Schrades and maybe a Primble or two. I need to start with a Stockman, though.

Interesting input, everyone!

An old Labelle.
I know where the one i want is, just no $ for it right now.
I went to Labelle Elementary for kindergarten, and 4th and
5th grade. No relation to the knife except name.
And a Tim Britton teardrop with mammoth ivory handles.

OFF TOPIC RESPONSE: I find this a very effective way to insure that knives I put in airline checked baggage actually arrive on the other end. So far it's worked 100%. Pair of skivvies (clean works too;), knives, zip lock bag.

That's some right helpful information, right there. Thanks, for that one. ;)

Can't say something is missing. I reduced my collection to about 15 knives that I carry and use regularly, this way I can enjoy them the most. In the past I had much larger collection and I found myself frustrated not being able to use all of my knives. Having said that, I would love to have an old Cattaraugus cut. knife showing the real quality of this brand, sosmething I hadn't had the chance yet.

Hey Parke1 -

I've never had my hands on a nice bone handled Barlow. One day I'll have to try one of them Charlows or at least a nice red bone case Barlow. It's funny as I carry a 2 blade jack of some sort most other days. Sort of worried if I get my first I won't be able to stop. Lol. Anywho... Check your PM.

Cigar cattle barron!

large or extra large stockman.....

Ebony or African Blackwood too.

I have many knives, (an accumulation and some collections within that accumulation) - there are numerous variations of the Stockman and Jack Knife patterns in there. What I have developed an interest in recently, and wish to acquire, are some Congress pattern variations; Half Congress, Congress Jack, Congress Whittler, Six-blade Congress, etc. OH

I have a long list of wants, but there are three that are at the top.
1. Pre WWI Wostenholm Senator in MOP to go with my Stag version.
2. TC Barlow pen in front of long pull clip with antique saw cut bone
3. #77 Washington Jack with smooth antique bone

So, what's missing in my collection is a level headed, stay the course, collector.

There ya go. ;)

I would love to own a Burt Foster Darkside, but am so tickled by my useful selection of small fixed blades that I doubt I will ever decide to justify its cost over and against the rest of my life and the needs therein.

Similarly, my selection will probably always be missing an Erickson. I have great respect for the man and his work, and continual awe at not only his skill in construction but his eye for the aesthetics of/within each piece.

Sarah, I agree on Burt's Dark Side or just about any of his knives. Burt is one of the good ones. You have great taste in cutlery.

This knife!

Charlie's scan

The candy strip, only 9 made and quite a few the celluloid out-gassed! :grumpy: Don't know how many still remain, maybe none.

In my Knife Cosmos, there's always room for another single-spring knife :D:thumbup:

I am missing the following:

1. TC Barlow pen in front of long pull clip with soup bone.
2. Charlie Campagna 488113 Diamond Jack.
3. TC Barlow with Skunk Acrylic pants.

This one Dave?

I was chatting to Charlie about this knife very quickly a while ago and he seemed to think that - like you said a few gassed out, but possibly 4 or so left? - I hope that Charlie sees this.

No, not that knife Duncan.:D That is the candy from the 3rd HJ release, 1 of 16 made, I already have that knife. The one I'm searching for is from the 2nd release.

This knife was one of the 9 (note the blade etch), before out-gassing threatened its life and Charlie had it re-hafted in ebony:

Some evidence of the out-gassing remains on the main blade:

A beautiful knife, still! I love the ebony, if sorry that the federal shield didn't survive the fray.

My apologies Dave, my rushing to get to the garage and work on my car got the better of me - my apologies.
The 3rd lot-did they gas off as well? there is most probably a very good chance I remembered my conversation with Charlie wrong - and he may have been talking about the series two knives, my knowledge is little when it comes to the complete series - a huge part of my struggle with my collecting and combined knowledge - finding the time to know what I want to know just is impossible.

Sarah - I am glad you had a save of a lovely knife - I do prefer the Ebony to be honest ( if it were to be a knife I would use - not collect ), but I also see the sadness in loosing the Candy-stripe for collectable reasons :-(, Sarah - you still have a stunning knife there - do you get to use that one - or is it a safe queen?

I would also like to answer Dans question "What is missing from your Traditional Collection"
The missing knives from my collection - that I feel the most are Charlies start off on his journey with SFO's - I started off too late in realising that my life was changing hugely with the Traditional knife interest, and so therefore I missed the beginning of Charlies SFO productions, and with the massive growth they have had I have missed out on many.

So adding Daves collection into mine would make me happy :D

But its honestly a hard question to answer because as soon as someone posts an older Schrade, Remington, Camillus, Utica, Western, geeeeez the list goes on..you think " Oh man I would give ANYTHING to own that knife" :o
