Those boots have been worn all day, every day for the last 2 years. I can see them going another 2 years!

Everything I've posted so far can be resoled. So in combination with a decent size rotation and proper care I can see the majority of my shoes and boots lasting for more than a decade.

YES! That didn't even occur to me... I could wear my firefighters for the rest of my (imaginable) life!

There are a number of factors that typically will determine how long a leather shoe or boot will last to include, frequency of use, types of use, and how well they were taken care of as leather can breakdown. Finally there is a practical limit to how often a shoe or boot can be resoled.

Dammit... Your voice of reason burst my bubble

We modern people spend less and less time with boots on the ground as it were . . .

But I must respond with :

Why Blue Suede of course !

My house slippers. I got two pair. Narrow for bare feet in summer and longer / wider for wearing with thick socks in winter.
I know, I know those are what all them no good, trippy, hippy _______ wear.
HEY I wear the full coverage upper , smooth black leather, version of these all day at work and have for thirty years. I have zero foot or back issues and can work all day, every day, in an automotive or machine shop environment on concrete. Nuff said. Zero heal shoes rule.

Padded work mats to stand on are . . . in my world . . . just something extraneous to clean and is just in the way. I watch people put all that junk down trying to fix their problems when these shoes could solve some or most of it.
End of sermon.
Thanks for listening.

Oh you mean when I go out into the wilds . . . to get the mail and maybe do some walk way snow shoveling . . .

I don’t mind spending three hundred on a pair of real boots but hey, if these guys want to sell me EXACTLY what I want for like fifty bucks . . . I’m, down. I used to buy kevlar boot laces and dig the mud and salt out of the front of the boots and all but . . . call me lazy . . . these are the _____.

I wish I could say my Allen Edmonds but forays in those are few and far between these days. Nice to look at though.

One more shoe since I got you all here. Before the blue suede I spent most of my time around the house and in my home work shop in custom moccasins.

I’ve had a few pair. These are the latest. Seriously thick leather sole. Like 1/4 inch special leather he buys just for soles. Resolable.
My moccasin maker is a wild guy. Makes boots and goes to all the mountain man rendezvous . . . hell he’s even a midwife. I didn’t even know a guy could be a midwife. He is.
I can attest that these can make a better electrical ground with a damp concrete floor than the Birkenstocks. OK you can stop laughing any minute now . . .yah, yah . . . . anyway . . . part of the reason they don’t do as much duty in the home work shop now as in the past. That and when I go from the work shop into the house the slip on “clog” style is quick change when nature calls. Keeps me from tracking all manner of wood, metal and grease onto the white carpets. Dark brown smooth leather clogs for the shop shoes and blue suede for just in the house.

Being realistic may not be as happy go lucky you might like to be, but you'll certainly have a better chance to be better prepared for the outcome.

I should probably buy a backup pair of them. They are footwear perfection.

Rotating footwear and using shoe trees can certainly extend the life of a pair of boots or shoes. This gives the leather a chance to rest and a chance for your perspiration to evaporate before the next wear. Additional care such as regular cleaning and brushing, polishing, and conditioning will of course help greatly as well.

My vast footwear collection, all the other kids laugh at me and call me Mr fancy pants. sniff sniff Need to get a good pair of penny loafers. BK2 looked fitting for the photo. Think I wear the muck shoes the most. Have lasted quite a while. And yes various trash on floor from testing edges.;) Cleanest part of carpet. Honestly think it's time for knife rehab.

I enjoy a shoe or two. Mostly Ferragamo but I mostly wear my redwing iron Rangers.

Very nice!!

If there's one area I'm lacking most it's loafers and drivers. However with a high instep and one foot a half size smaller these are the shoes which are most challenging for me.
