Whats on your feet?

Received these just today.

I've been wanting a pair in Kudu for awhile and they are finally here.

Who's your moccasin guy?

Sheepdog149,
I sent you a private message since they frown on advertising that is not a commercial member of this forum.

Wrecked Crocs, wrecked Birks, wrecked Salomon, worn out Blundstones, Salomon I haven't wrecked yet, 5.0s that are still going strong and some odds and ends Vans and Sidi MC boots along with MEM and Shimano cycling shoes I haven't wrecked yet.

Gloves and boots don't live forever once I have them.

Pics available on request.

Nothing...unless super cold, then its all leather mocs with wool socks. I had ankle reconstructed (cartilage cleaned out of debris and resurfaced) a few years back and found anything other than 0 drop from toe to heel will cause serious pain. I took up running, went and had a stride analysis done at a sports specialist...and got the "you need these super cushy latest shoe"...a week later I returned them, and at the encouragement of a longtime friend, I tried a pair of 0 drop merrel shoes...no pain! Soon it was five fingers, and xero shoes...and now barefoot...no pain...much better. I live in va, so it does get cold and mocs or muks are needed in the winter when it is wet. It does suck, cause presurgery I loved my cowboy boots and danner's canadians...some fella in a thrift store's gain. The only issue I have is when it comes to chainsaw or heavy shovel use...I went and got some danners with a super wide toebox...put them on, do the work, then take em off as soon as I can or face the pain.

Chacos or go home. I have multiple that are going on 5 years, one just resoled. Love em. When not in those I am in my Woolrich boots.

You collect shoes like some of us collect custom knives. There are differences, of course.

Out of curiousity....as your feet are significantly different sizes, if you want to sell or trade a pair of your shoes, are you able to readily do so? I'm sure these are quite costly, and if you fall out of love with them, would be nice to be able to locate someone who loves them.

Because of my foot shape, it has been difficult to get a balmoral/oxfords that feels comfortable, so I tend towards bluchers.

Never been a fan of kilties, lol...but with a monk strap, they are interesting.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

People do sell used shoes for various reasons. For some it's because shoes can be hard to access so they may find they need to sell them right after receiving them and finding out they don't fit. Others may sell at various different points for other reasons to include a shoe that just fell out of favor. Some shoes retain more value than others but even with limited experience with knives I'm pretty sure shoes don't retain as much value. Any use whatsoever and a shoe will show some signs of use. I personally have sold some shoes and for the most part this was because as my appreciation for shoes grew so did the amount I was willing to spend. So the shoes on the lower end kind of fell out of favor in my rotation.

As my appreciation for mechanical watches go, so goes my appreciation for fine footwear, and just a little bit of appreciation for knives. Liking nice footwear isn't as common as some other hobbies and it's more challenging in the States because there just aren't that many brands as there used to be nor as many places to access them. However as uncommon as it is there are still a decent number of us folks out there.

Styles will vary and shoemakers use their own Last. Lasts are a set shape but people's feet are all different. In the non-bespoke world of Ready To Wear footwear unfortunately some may have a harder time finding the shoes they like which also fit. As nice as it is to wear a shoe you like to look at it's more important that it fits.

I wear the New Balance 608 almost exclusively on a daily basis, including brown or black versions to church. When the price dips on Amazon, I buy a couple of pairs for the Powernoodle Shoe Repository. I'm up to 9 NIB pairs on standby. Why? They are just cushy and comfortable.

Much the same here. Comfortable sneaks that come in extra wide sizes. Red Wing King Toe work shoes if I need something more durable.

Yeah, the 608 are available in extra wide, which is what I get. I used to wear Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, but as I have gotten older, be feet prefer comfort over the extreme high fashion of the Chuck Taylors.

These have a rubber sole and wear almost like slippers. They go great with jeans as well.

There's just something about a nice pair of leather shoes. I hardly ever wear tennis shoes, except when doing chores or physical activity.

Can you please tell me who makes these shoes!
I bought a pair of Oak Street Bootmakers boat shoes back in 2013 best shoes I've ever worn!

One pair of Oakstreet Bootmakers Brown Back Row middle pair of shoes.

One pair of Quoddys Whisky color Back Row Left.

The rest are from Rancourt.

Personally although I feel my pair of Oakstreet Bootmakers are of equal quality to the rest I would never purchase any more from them. At the time I was unaware they actually do not make their shoes, and I have read where their quality at time is not up to snuff and their customer service was less than what I believe it should have been. Quoddy seems to offer great quality but I don't prefer their Last (toe shape) as much as the ones from Rancourt. Regardless Rancourt tends to offer more choices and customization is a whole lot easier so if I were to purchase any more of this type that would be my first choice.
