What's so special about the Busses?

Used to have a brain, but sold it in favor of a peanut. Sure it was nice and had common sense, but I found it difficult to to use it because it interfered with my little head, simple things like writing, were not necessary anyway. I used my brain on mall ninja operations , and then got rid of it. Not very practical. .

Yah, I can understand that.

so, :thumbdn:"leopardprey, troll and taker of cheap shots":thumbdn:

I love the part about Jungles of Cambodia. Man, you have been in the service for a very long time. Those were the ops in "nam", right? And you were still in service just until recently in Iraq. You must be one tough old dude.:D

Wow leopardprey for a first post that is some pretty heavy stuff.... I find it odd that one would talk about their "special ops", the jungles of Cambodia, and some how roll in the Busse users into all that. I also like how you worked in Cold Steel as well :)

I would like to try a busse, too many people say the steel is exceptional for it not to be. My problem is the style of knife they make, if they made a 3 to 4", thinner blade out of infi, with no choil, in a design more woods friendly I would spend the money. Chris

Something like this?.....

Leaner Meaner S LR

Blade Length 4.00
Overall Length 8.63
Blade Thickness 0.150

Ain't that the truth! In my opinion, their products are either a tad small or too large for what I need. The Howling Rat and Yard Keeper are the perfect size blade...too bad Busse can't make a knife that size....

You mean like a Game Warden, Badger Attack 3, Active Duty, Leaner Meaner Street or CG Badger Attack TAC?

Thanks for the link, I like the looks of all the "Street" series, and might throw down some cash. I have an original AFCK in the box that might just go on the bay now.:D

Sorry but all the acronyms mean nothing to me, the link spells it out, again thanks. Chris

A toyota corolla will get you there more reliably than a pinto and to me justifies a higher price. No different than quality knives or footwear or compass in my opinion. Its a matter of perspective.

Skam

I don't see it as a matter of perspective, but rather as a matter of common sense. that pinto is going to break on you and leave you stranded. Get a better car and get it fast. Same rules apply to knives.

Game Warden: too small. looks good on the end of a key chain.

Active Duty: see above

Leaner Meaner Street, Badger Attack 3: Yes, great knives. Good luck finding one. If you do, expect to spend $400 or more.

Badger Attack TAC: The Badgers were nicely sized knifes until they pumped them with steriods when they made the latest incarnation. Too big for my liking when it comes to dressing game.

Like I said, too bad Busse can't make a Howling Rat or Yardkeeper sized blade.....

The real Busse fans would know this. Were there any Busse knives in existence when we were in Cambodia - during Dick $&%$% Nixon's presidency -- over thirty years ago?

In the link posted above it has those knives listed at about 200 dollars, and it has a link to order them, can I not? It does not mention anything about them being out of stock. Chris

Yeah, they were about $200 originally. Haven't been made for several years and now the prices, again WHEN you can find one for sale (be quick, it will be available for about 10 seconds- not kidding!) they are as I said, $400+. These are the most practical and useful models for hunting, etc. thus the demand...The fact that Busse hasn't made anything this size for several years is unfortunate.

Those price are what they sold for when they were offered by Busse, now one would have to find it from an after market source. Hence the prices would be different.

you can also get the scraper 4 which was the scrapyard resiprene handled version of the leaner mean street and made of the same steel. I think they went for the mid $100 range, but cannot remember now. Does anyone remember what the original cost was?

$139.95 I think

thanks, that was a deal, nearly 4 inch, thinner INFI stock with the most comfortable handle available for $140, plus whatever shipping cost. Cannot beat that deal. I bought several of these, for my kids and myself camping excursions. This is the perfect small knife IMO.

Just wondering. Have you used a Game Warden or Active Duty. I've used the GW and have seen several hunters and fisherman use them quite efficiently. I certainly wouldn't use it as a necker or keychain fob.

I have seen LMrS in it's most recent configurations go for well under $300.00 recently on the exchange.

I do agree that it would be great to see a Howling Rat (older models) in INFI, but my stripped CG Badger Attack TAC is every bit as usable as my Howler. But that's just how it works for me. Hey, maybe that's why we have different knife designs and makers.:D:D
