What's that you're eating?

Onion soup of the French variety.

It never ceases to amaze me how much the onions reduce by volume. I sliced 3 large onions which initially filled 60% my heavy stock pot. After caramelized and simmed with broth I ended up with 1 quart of soup plus 1 serving.

Of course I used a French knife.

I like ketchup on my dogs. Don’t judge me.

Opening weekend of duck season here. I took my wife and daughter. Fortunate enough to kill a pot full of teal.
Browning them down with smoked sausage, onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic.

Baked them down for 4 hours to a dark gravy and they were as tender as they come.

The wife wanted steak for dinner tonight.

Went for one of the discounted bargain flat-packs because nothing looked great this morning. Decided to use TheEgg because we’re planning some turkey drumsticks in a few days and I use it so seldom I almost forget how. The wife gave me complete license for sides. Thinking about just throwing some halved butternut squash and apples in there at the same time. It’s just us so it’s never been a crazy huge production.

Reading through the dinners I eat. It reflects the package of chicken parts I buy. What I like the most.

I'm ok up to a point of repeat. But chicken thighs are my favorite.

Maybe I need to buy a package of chicken wings.
Meh. We like what we like. The wife wants chicken leg quarters every time. I guess that’s a thigh with an attached drumstick? They sure grill nice. She did a drunk insta-cart just now and ordered us about a month’s worth of snacks. She really wanted a rosemary loaf to go with some leftover goat cheese that we had, together with her steak and veggies. It’s a snack dinner tonight. We’re just carving little bits as we go.
