What's that you're eating?

Was planning on going out for some BBQ after attending a wine tasting event in Livermore yesterday but there was no parking to be found when I drove by, so I stopped for some Beef Chow Fun at Chinese restaurant on my way home, steamed some Ha Gow that I had in the freezer & stir fried some Bok Choy & Shitake Mushrooms for lunch at home instead:

Opened up the fortune cookie that I got w/the Beef Chow Fun & though the fortune was very appropriate considering what day it was for me:

What I take from it is: Enjoy life to the fullest & live each day (or minute) as if it's going to be your last. ;)

I don't eat ice cream often but decided to treat myself to some at Fenton's in Oakland before dinner the other day.

It's a "Junior" Black & Tan -- a huge scoop of which I shared w/my dinner partner. It was delish but we didn't finish it. 🤷‍♂️

Here's Fenton's description of the dish:

"A Fentons Favorite! Toasted Almond and creamy Vanilla ice cream layered with our handmade Caramel and Chocolate Fudge, topped with toasted almonds, whipped cream and cherry."

Pics of 5 out of 12 dishes served for dinner at Commis in Oakland the other day.

Some Lobser Glazed #Eel (unseen) under a bed of greens:

A Oyster Prarfait (unseen) under a bed of Kaluga Caviar:

I later learned that: "Kaluga caviar is considered the rarest and most expensive caviar in the world, with prices reaching up to $3,000 per ounce!!!" 😲

A Bowl of Scallion Rice topped w/Zuchinni Flowers:

A one ounce $30 serving of grilled A5 Wagu Beef:

Petite fours (aka Mignardises) for Desert: Raspberry & Lychee Chocolate Bon Bon, Miso Caramel & a Lotus Blossom Cookie

One hell of a Birthday meal!
You deserved it for making it another year!
Congratulations!!!

I apologize for that, but you need to understand you are partially to blame here.

I’m a jerk.
But you left the door open.

Never mentioned what day it was.

It was just another meal at another Michelin star restaurant. 🤷

Same old thing to me. LOL! 😉

I use to shop at Costco all the time but now only go there 1 or 2x's/year.

Was in need of MEAT (and a few other things) & this is what I bought at Costco this morning plus a few veggies that I bought at a Filipino market located nearby:

Here's a list of what I bought:

1) 13# Slab of NY Strip Steak (Only $8/#)
2) 11# (3 racks) of St. Louis Cut Pork Ribs ($3.80/#)
3) 4# of OxTails (Only $8/#)
4) 3.25# of T-Bone Lamb Chops (Only $7/#)
5) 4# of Kirkland Bacon (Only $4.25/#)
6) 4.4# of Rainbow Trout (Only $4/#)
7) 1# Round of Brie
8) 1.5# of Ghiradelli Chocolate Squares
9) 6# of French Roast Whole Coffee Beans ($5.83/#)
10) 2.5# of Bitter Melon
11) 1# of Baby Bok Choy
12) 4 Jars of Sliced Peaches

Costco has the cheapest prices in my area for NY Strip, Oxtails, Lamb Chops, Bacon, Trout, Brie & Coffee. You just have to be willing to buy in bulk. Cost for everything was a little over $300. I live alone & most of this haul should last me around 6 months or so.

Going to be doing a lot of food prep & vacuum sealing later today or tomorrow.
