What's that you're eating?

Had a piece of well-aged venison backstrap for dinner last night from the deer I killed a few weeks ago. I took pictures before and after grilling, but neglected to get any on the plate. Oh well.

It was cooked perfectly, and with a few mushrooms and a little blue cheese, some bread rolls and spinach (let's not forget the Dragon's Milk too), it was an amazing meal! 🤤 😁

Fabulous celebration dinner last night in Toluca Lake. Started with dry cider from Normandy. Then a great bottle of Pomerol. Only wish we could have time travelled six hours into the future to decant it. It got better and better as we slow rolled through dinner trying not to chug it. I brought Texas Bourbon for dessert.

Ellis Wyatt Ellis Wyatt Protein express: grilled octopus, steak tartare, braised lamb pasta (not pictured), followed by seared duck breast and 30-day dry aged tomahawk ribeye with tableside prep bone-marrow salsa.

That looks and sounds amazing, especially the bone marrow salsa. Some excellent looking beverages in there too. Great choice with the Pomerol for that meat heavy dinner.

Won’t be ready for a few hours, but this wagyu tri tip is currently on the smoker for dinner tonight. Wine pairing TBD..

Wowza. Looks incredible. I’m on my way home to Texas. May I please divert to help you eat that? 🤣

I love smoking tri tip , but I have never had a wagyu one.....looks phenomenal!!!!

You would be in trouble if I lived closer

P.S. you might need more beer than that

Hahahaha
I am definitely light on beer, but I can guarantee that you won’t go home thirsty… or sober.

Fun side note: I built this bar from the scrap door frames and flooring of an old factory that was demolished. All heart pine. Sketched up the finished frame in auto cad and sent it to a friend who cut the top from a scrap piece of granite. If you look closely at the edge of the top shelf, you can still see the groove from the tongue and groove flooring.
