First time I ever had tiramisu, "is it Japanese? Sounds Japanese..."
"No, it's Italian"
"Why does it sound Japanese?"
"No idea"
Only found out much later, that tirami su, translates to "cheer me up"/"pick me up".
Still think it sounds kinda Japanese![]()
One of the tastiest foods ever created imho.I never thought about it before…but now…yes! It sounds a bit like miso.
Yup! It certainly cheers me up. I was surprised to read that the modern version I know and love is only like fifty years old. Always different. This place makes it with a strong flavor of amaretto and it’s so nice with coffee.![]()
Someone teaching me Japanese said a common reply to "Arigato gozaimasu" (Thank You) is "Dou itachimashite" (You're welcome).wakarimasen
I can smell it.Two Nathan's colossal dogs, split and fried until slightly burnt, a can of Hormel Chili no beans, diced onion, jalapeno, shredded cheese all on a slice of sourdough. Mustard and Ketchup and a Miller Lite.

Quick update.
My Dad’s birthday was actually yesterday 2/28/23. Timing is everything. The family was together to celebrate his wish to live to 100.
We got the call early today. He passed peacefully in his sleep.
The era of “The Great Generation” is closing. Family’s were teams. Business was done eye to eye. A handshake was as good as a contract. Hard work was the norm.
Not a downer, but a celebration of a life well lived!
You young guys..Read to your children, untill they can read to you. Tell them stories of your life.
Dance with them.
