What's the cheapest knife that stopped your search for the ideal EDC?

Most expensive: LionSteel TiSpine ($385).

Most carried and one of my all time favorites: Spyderco Merlin ($0, found it on the beach when I was a kid).

The pursuit of my favorite three knives has pretty much ended (at least for now) with my purchase of (1) a Spyderco Southard (custom wood scale, thanks spsketch), (2) a William Henry E10 (mammoth ivory), and (3) the TiSpine (matte bronze). I refuse to purchase a Sebenza because I'm afraid I might really like it, and it will push me up into the next higher price level of knives and my mad search will begin all over again.

For 10-13 years,I've carried a Smith and Wesson H.R.T. Urban EDC...

But it was always a bit...big and uncomfortable, but since it kept an edge well and also would have handily served as a defensive weapon (I was a long haul driver for a lot of years, and a soldier before that),I kept it anyways. Seems like it was around $40. I wanted something a bit more...comfortable for EDC now that I'm home more,so recently on a whim bought a Kershaw Shuffle for under $20,and have been very happy with it so far...

Most I've ever paid for a knife,EDC or otherwise was around $200 I think.

Most expensive knife I purchased was $150. Sold it for what I had in it.

Victorinox Cadet for $25 is all the knife I really need. The majority of my knives cost between $20 and $100, with the majority in the $30 to $45 range.

I get the most use out of a $15 Boker KeyCom and a $35 Case Stockman. The Vic Cadet goes along for the ride some days.

This one. It accomplishes 99.9% of everything I need in a cutting tool. If I'm totally honest with myself, I would need little else and stop buying new knives. But, who are we kidding? This addiction is not about need, it is about want. Hence, that is the reason why I have up to $800 custom knives.

Besides, I have to spend my money on something for myself, besides paying attorneys to protect myself from frivolous law suits from my soon to be ex wife. ;)

Case peanut- the meanest cuttin little knife you ever did see. $40ish for an unbeatable little edc. It is in my pocket whenever i am wearing pants!

I have a William Henry Warncliff Titan (?) that cost me way less than its over $300 retail. I never carry it.
I bought the first run of the ZT 0560 and paid $200 and hated its bulk and lack of finesse and sold it within days.
I have EDCd the same BM S30V Ritter Grip for over 4 years and it is perfect for price and as sharp as ever. I could totally live with various Alox SAKs (Farmer), KA-Bar Dozier folders, BM Griptilian or Mini Griptilian variations except Tanto, and the Opinel and Mora are too good to pass up especially at the minimal price.

Seems like the Leek has a lot of fans as do the Rat/Esse folder variations. Too bad I don't need any more knives.

My most expensive purchase was a sog vulcan for $150 at jays and that has been in my pocket for years i plan on getting a three sisters forge beast soon though!

Cold Steel 4" Vaquero bought on closeout for $25.00 delivered. Knife fits my hand like it was made for it and I love the serrated recurve blade.

Current favorite is the CS Black Talon II - around $110

Fixed blade I'm looking for would be a Boker Rampage.

And the CS Vaquero Grande 6" in VG-1 that I got on craigslist for $40.00 was quite a bargain. Still have it and will send it to CS for sharpening. They sent me a spare pocket clip free of charge as the black paint tends to chip on them.

Worst, most overrated knife: Spyderco Civilian. Paid $165 including tax and delivery and was completely disappointed with it. It just sits in a drawer nowadays, and even though I don't use it the tip broke off somehow. Total garbage. At least Sal gave CS permission to use the blade design on the far superior Black Talon II

The little Syperco Hawkbill I bought for $20.00 to carry with me in a County I visit often that doesn't allow 3" blades or longer is a good little knife and dangerous. It's basically a mini Civilian with a blade just short of 3" but has things like thumb jimping and a tip that doesn't break.

In the past I've purchased a few custom folders in the $1000 range just to do it. All were sold within 6 months once I stopped trying to convince myself that such art knives are better. I still look back on that period and shake my head. Luckily I didn't lose anything in the re-sales.

I'm down to my last Sebenza, a CGI, which sits in a drawer and hasn't seen pocket time for a year or more. I keep it only because I consider myself a collector now, due to all the knives (most of them higher-end) I have accumulated over the years without really realizing it, and keep telling myself I HAVE to have a Sebenza because of that. My only knife-OCD issue that I'm aware of.

When Cold Steel came out with the Ti-Lite it immediately attracted my attention, mainly due to the fact that I like the Italian stiletto style and always have (owned several of those off and on too, clear back to when I was a pup).

I put it off and put it off because of the price--"this HAS to be a cheapie," I told myself for a long time--and finally picked up the 4" model for about $40. Once I had it in hand It far exceeded any expectations I had for it. Still does. Now I own both versions in the newer steel and still have the original 4" in AUS 8 as a beater. Yeah, it's a liner lock but a very STRONG one due to the patented bend in the lock head.

Currently I find myself packing a Ti-Lite more than any of my other knives (the close second being an Emerson karambit which I have been sucessfully experimenting with as an EDC for about 5 months now). How long will this go on, I don't know. If there is anything "cheap" about a Ti-Lite I've yet to discover it. IMO, these knives are a bargain at twice the price or more.

Strange but true...

EDIT: Gotta come back and mention the RATs 1 and 2 because I still consider them top "inexpensive" knives also. Can't forget those.....

If the only thing I could carry from now on was a Kershaw blur in elmax I wouldn't cry.

Ontario RAT Model 1 has kicked my customs, sprints, and hard use knives out of my pocket.

KnifeWorks just recently got a shipment of the gray nylon exclusives, so I bought a couple to replace the ones I sold years ago.

Really great knife. Easily worth twice than what I paid for it. Incredible value for the money.

Blur I've had the regular and the Elmax. They both blow me away as does the Kabar Dozier, Delica, PM2, Canal Street Cutlery Air Pinch, Rough Rider Half Whittler. Lately I've lost interest in $150+ knives. It was an itch that needed to be scratched, but after that I'm perfectly happy with these handful of knives. I'm kinda in a search for a full serrated folder too but that's neither here nor there.
