Whats the last knife you used and what for?

Used the spay on my Case large Stockman to countersink some holes for screws, putting a bookshelf together. (The tip profile on the spay works pretty well for that, I found out.)

thx - cpr

Used my 12" sashimi knife for first time tonight for - you guessed it - sashimi - but it's twin is staying mint :D

A have a selection of fixed blades on a microwave in the kitchen (SOG Field Pup, Spyderco Bill Moran, Gerber LMF) and rotate them in cutting up all sorts of packages and splitting frozen fish fillet.

I just used my Benchmade 943 to open a bread bag my wife had tied into a knot that I couldn't undo. Plastic has no chance against well heat treated 154CM!

Happens all the time for me. Usually is the USPS shipping boxes. I'll slice through the tape, fight the glued flaps ALL before realizing theres a pull tap that opens one entire side. I hate that.

Whats worse are those envelopes with the shredded foam in the walls. If you cut the walls open the stuff spills everywhere and sticks to everything. I think it took me three packages to catch on and realize there was a pulltab.

Used my BM 940 to open a INOVA Microlight Keychain LED yesterday... I recently lost My ARC AA (bummer) and replaced it with a little Inova offering... GREAT light!

To begin with, I acknowledge that just about everything I have learned about knifecraft over the years has come from internet posts, mostly in Bladeforums. That said, out of 68 posts so far in this thread, except for maybe 4 or 5 of the cutting chores described, the rest could have been done with anything; Vic Classic, box cutter, the crappiest of Chinese knockoffs, butterknife, key, fingernail etc.

Not sure what to make of this. Either a number of BF subscribed knife guys just so happened at this particular time to have last used their heavy duty blades on frivolous little chores ("Cheez; only a few days earlier I was using my same knife to quarter a moose, defend against pirates, cut through my jammed car door etc., but today I only trimmed off a hangnail" :o ), or maybe there are way more here who are strictly accumulators than I had thought. That's perfectly okay. I like knives and appreciate good ones too, but since I check in largely for useful knifecraft information -- selection, use, maintenance and so forth -- I am beginning to wonder how much is really authentic, how much is fixated on the object alone, or is in lieu of a social life. :D

Busse BM to kill a zombie while napping but before that a Fallkniven F1 to cut a tow line

Used an Endura 4 to open a box from shutterfly.com containing picture albums I made from photos stored there.

I used my CR small sebenzea to cut plastic strapping off some freight at work.

In reply to ZNAPSCHATZ observations. I see your point. Yes, most of the tasks I use my Sebenza's for are quite ordinary and could be done with just about any blade. BUT A couple weeks ago I cleaned deer, then I used the same knife to process it. See I only killed one deer this year so far and I cut cardboard, open boxes many times every a day. This evening I'm planning on paying bills, and my sebenza will open the mail. I think most of the people in this thread are knife people, and like me, use their knives many times every day and more often than not it is a common little task.

Might be an interesting thread to ask what the most demanding thing a person used their knife for.....I think I'll start one.

A Spyderco Paramilitary, I used it to fend off some scurvy dog's trying to take me ship.

My BM 530 to open a new tower of blank DVDs. Before that I used my CS Bushman to split up some kindling. With the weather as it is here there's been a lot of that lately! :D
